A quick ferry ride from the airport brought us to Ketchikan, where Dave whisked us off in the van. We only had a few hours and wanted to avoid the tourist traps. We saw an amazing amount of local historical sites, the "must see" spots in town and more. True to our request, we were treated to fabulous off-the-beaten-path locations, with a running commentary that only an experienced guide could provide. We asked hundreds of questions and got answers to all. Just great viewings of animals, plants, and scenery, with "blow-by-blow" descriptions and tidbits of information. The Totem Park was impressive, as were the several other stops. After this very good experience, we will certainly look for a similar tour in every new town we visit to get an overview of the place -- time and money very well spent!
