“Unexpected fun in the sea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

My wife and I snorkeled with this company as an excursion off of a cruise ship. The company was very professional and the experience was fantastic. We have snorkeled and dived in tropical waters before, and this was very different but still quite cool. The gear the company uses is top of the line, we stayed warm in the thick wet suits (though getting them on was a bit of a challenge).
Our guides (Kristi, Billy, and Kayla) were friendly, funny, and experienced. They also took good care of my wife who was five months pregnant at the time and need some help getting into the wet suit.
We swam with star fish (several different kinds that the guides were good about describing to us), see cucumbers, urchins, and many harmless jellies.
Other people on our cruise thought we were nuts, but it was totally comfortable and the experience was one I'd recommend to any one.
The hot cocoa back in the shop was also particularly good.

“Best excursion, hands down!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2012

Who'd have thought that snorkeling in Alaska would be so beautiful?! Once we worked our way into our super thick wetsuits, we were in for an adventure. The walk into the water was the most difficult part, stepping on pebbles and getting used to the buoyancy of the wetsuits. Once we were in, there was so much to see. From a huge purple starfish to different anemones and cool plant life, we had a ball! Our guides were great and very knowledgeable. It was a bit strenuous if you aren't in decent shape or have never been snorkeling. But it's totally worth it. The crew made it one of our best adventures ever.

“Do not miss this.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

My wife and I had a lot of fun and saw a lot of marine life. It is different than what one sees in tropical waters.

We were never cold and the equipment is in very good condition.

We would do this again.

I'm so glad I picked this excursion. Fun, helpful team. Gorgeous underwater plant and animal life. We saw an octopus! Purple starfish. Cool red jellyfish. We weren't even cold.

“Awesomeness...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2012

Snorkeling in Ketchikan with Snorkel Alaska was by far the best excursion we took from our cruise ship. The group at Snorkel Alaska were super helpful and friendly. They provide everything you could need. Just bring a swimsuit and a towel. They had great gear, in good shape and clean. They even had prescription goggles for us.

The place they took us had a great spot to walk out into the water in a very safe way. We were only cold for about 1 minute before the wet suit started working. We were in water from 2' to 60' and visibility was about 15'. We saw amazing numbers of starfish of all different varieties, anemones, urchins, sea cucumbers, and jelly fish galore. Of course there the obvious kelp forests, fish, and such as well. We swam around one major rock out cropping and to our delight there were two bald eagles fighting over a meal right there on top of the rock. It was a phenomenal experience.

Snorkel Alaska guides were very knowledgeable about the sea life and the gear. They provided showers, hot chocolate, and bathrooms on our return to the dive shop. It was all just very easy and very enjoyable. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks Snorkel Alaska!
