Capt Dan was great. Overall experience was good and would recommend him highly. Saw lots of wildlife and caught plenty of fish. He was very informative and friendly.

The time was 6:00am and it continued to rain as we entered Ketchikan, Alaska. We had to be on the dock early this date as Salmon fishing was the order of the day, 7:00am and we were signing the charter boat’s paperwork. This was not a Princes excursion so Capt’n Dan admonished all we would be prompt about making the return trip back to dock. Capt’n Dan ran through the preliminary safety briefing, introduced his assistant Alex and we were on our way. About thirty minutes later we arrived on site and began trolling for fish. Six fishing poles were set aft with the four inboard lines set on a downrigger between 30 & 60 feet of depth. The two out board lines were running shallow, all lines carried flashers of significant size designed to draw the fish in. It wasn’t long and the youngest members of our group had fish on, Alex maneuvering the big net to better boat their catch. During the lulls between fish Capt’n Dan explained the difference between vertical and horizontal jumping fish and what seasons were best for which fish. In addition, he talked about bear locations on the various islands we were fishing off of. We discussed the life of Timothy Treadwell better known as the “Grizzly Man” whose life ended in Alaska when he became overly confident of his relationship with bears. As this excursion was a fishing trip the talk soon turned to fuel prices. Not a lot needs to be said about this topic! Every one of us had a shot at fishing for Salmon and we all brought home a share of the freezer. If you enjoy fishing in Ketchikan look up Captain Dan Leathers through Ketchikan Charter Boats, Inc. they will take you to the fish and make sure you are provided an opportunity to catch your limit. I recommend Capt’n Dan and his boat!

Captain Mike on the Compadre gave my brother-in-law and I a great half day of fishing. Beginning with a little "spice" for our coffee, the trip was a complete success. After about a 30min ride where we saw eagles, mountains, etc, we got into a mess of pink salmon. A couple hours later I reeled in a 20lb king and my b-I-l caught a 15lb chum. Midway through Mike brought out some of his smoked sea bass, and kept the coffee warm the whole trip. Fantastic day, great guy, super trip!

Booked this trip ahead of time through this company. We only had 5 hours is Ketchikan from the cruise ship. Nick had a sign with our name on it and we were off going fishing within 30min. My son had and great time and Nick did all of the work. Saw bald eagles and gave my son some information on fishing. Other boat were calling our boat just to see what he was doing. If / when i go back I would get Nick.

We were on the Coral Princess and at the last minute booked a charter boat for 4 of us with KCBI - we were in contact with Carla, who set us up with the boat Michael Rae and Captain DANNY !!!
IT WAS AWESOME fishing !!!!! Danny was great!!! Super friendly, knew what he was doing and made our trip a truly awesome memory. Not to mention we hauled in 10 Salmon between the 4 of us in just 4 hours that day. Danny worked like a dog with our gear/tackle and downriggers, changing when needed so we could hook them up !! We are all fairly experienced fishermen so we had that on our side, but even if we had never done it before, Danny would be the one you want to guide you.
HIGHLY recommend any cruise ship people wanting to fish while in Ketchikan book this one. When you're done Danny will even take care of the fish processing and all you have to do is tell him which day you want the fish to arrive once you're home :-) NICE !!!!!
