This is a beautiful area. Most of the tours here are fantastic. It's expensive but so worth it! If you can get a reservation on the cruise/fly option you will have an unforgettable experience.

We had the unusual luck to have a rare sunny day in Ketchikan for a float plane tour over Misty Fjords National Monument. It was incredible! The scenery, the mountains, waterfalls, mountain lakes were breathtaking. We were able to land in a lake and spent about 20 minutes walking around and taking pictures of the beautiful surroundings. It was a highlight of our week in Alaska!!

We took the Allen Marine tour of Misty Fjords. Both the boat captain and the accompanying naturalist were very knowledgeable. The area was beautiful and the process was well run. We saw many eagles, some seals, a bird rookery. Coffee and hot chocolate were available for no fee. A snack was provided as well. Highly recommend this tour.

Years ago, President Carter was able to declare Misty Fjords a National Monument so that there would be no development, logging, etc. After flying over the Fjords with Island Wings, you will greatly appreciate this act of his presidency. What an absolute beautiful area. It was by far our favorite shore excursion on our cruise.

We did the flight seeing trip to see the misty fjords when we were in Ketchikan. We were on a cruise but didn't book through them. We booked when we got off the boat at the information hut. There were loads of tours on offer there and plenty of companies offering this tour. We went with Taquan Air and it cost $199 each (as opposed to $289 I think off the cruise- Holland America).
It was expensive for us but when would you be there again! Really enjoyed the trip, the views were brilliant! The sea plane was comfortable and the pilot was lovely. The panoramic views of the fjords from the air were fantastic. I watched out for wildlife for a bit but saw nothing- my sister spotted a bear and a cub though!
The plane landed in the Fjords and we were allowed out to stand on floats. It was lovely and we got some great photos.
Overall I really enjoyed flying over the fjords and would definitely recommend doing it if you can afford to splash out and do it! Beautiful!
