We stayed five nights and injoyed every moment of it. The staff was awesome, the food was great along with everything else. The weather was terrible but was able to catch our limits thanks to Everette, one of the best guides i have ever gone fishing with.

Room Tip: we stayed in the main lodge

Simple, If you like to fish you want to go to Waterfall, scenery is beautiful, wildlife is incredible and it's 5 star meals and cabins make you feel like a king.As far as king of the day yes I did win one day there, biggest fish! That made the trip and gave me bragging rights until next year,or the next and the next!

Congratulations on winning "King of the Day," Mike! And thanks for the glowing review. We're delighted you enjoyed celebrating the historic cannery's Centennial season with us, and we can't wait to see you on the water again next year.

Wonderful experience with great fishing. Much better than BC. Our guide, Everette was the best. He spotted the fish told us how deep and we just kept pulling them in. Food at the restaurant was excellent. The organization of getting your gear to preparing your fish was beyond great. It was a wonderful father son outing and one we hope to repeat again. Lots of Humpback whales, Orcas, Eagles, Otters and fish.
This was once an old cannery and has been repurposed as a one of a kind fishing resort.

Room Tip: Ask for a front row cabin. Great view of the water and mountains. The cabins are very roomy for two people.

Thanks for sharing your experience at Waterfall Resort, Ken! There's nothing like a great fishing trip to bring fathers and sons together, so we're delighted the two of you created such special memories here. After 100 years, the old Cannery and the incredible wilderness here are still a tradition that spans the generations.

This may be the Holy Grail of remote fishing camping, with all of the amenities of a hot shower, warm bed and plenty of good chow. And, the experience is damn near guaranteed to please all who come for great fishing, and a good time with a like minded crowd. I went with three friends who have made the annual pilgrimage for almost 20 years, which should speak for itself. This experience is a must for serious and aspiring fishermen.

Room Tip: Request a lower level cabin for convenience.

This was our 2nd visit to Waterfall Resort. Last year we were there the last 3 day of the season (mid-August). This year we were there at the end of June for prime Chinook (King) Salmon fishing. It was as much fun this time as last, even if we did occasionally have to fight the sea lions for the fish we were pulling in (LOL).

Facilities - more than adequate - not luxurious in any way, but very comfortable
Food - a high spot. You will not go hungry and the quality and quantity of food is very high
Guides - you can't ask for better guides. In fact, sometimes they do too much, but they know where the fish are, and when you reach your yearly limits, they know where to go to try something else. The are 5 star - especially Nick who made sure that our 80 year old guest fished every day, and Mitch.
Transportation - there is a reason why you buy trip insurance. When the storms roll in and the ceiling comes down, you can't get there since the only way in and out are float planes. Just chill out and you'll make it.
Weather - assume it will be cludy and rainy at least 50% of the time with highs in the 50's. If you are very lucky there might actually be sun, but they supply full rain gear and you are out fishing from 6:30-4:30/5 PM every day so it is not an issue - just plan to dress in layers so you can shed a layer as sun comes out.

I will be back next year!

Room Tip: There are 2 person cabins and some more private and larger rooms. I have only been in the cabins and I have no complaints at all - they are all just fine and essentially identical.

Hi Curtis,
Thanks for the great review! We're delighted you had such a good time fishing with us during our Centennial Celebration season, come rain or shine. Our guides and our executive chef are just two examples of the expert service that make Waterfall Resort an unparalleled experience among Alaska fishing lodges. We're honored that - just like the salmon - guests like you make a tradition of returning to this historic location year after year. Looking forward to doing it all again!
