Louie's is a fantastic place to eat. The halibut was fresh, the salid was exceptional. We really enjoyed our dinner there.

The place is great for Alaska dining and was enjoyable. Ask first on the Market price or you may be surprised. Left full and satisfied with good memories but glad I didn't have th tab.

Maybe it's just because the tourist season has not begun and their high-season cook is not around yet, but the food at Louie's was disappointing this time. The clam chowder was too salty and the seafood Caesar salad, while large with abundant seafood, was just not balanced or something. The crab, halibut, salmon and shrimp on top were good individually, but individually is the operative word here. It was not a salad but rather a random collection.

Anyway, nothing beats their collection of Alaskiana on the walls, so stop for a quick meal and have a look anyway.

Try this place for breakfast, lots of locals eat here on the weekends to start the day. Nice options for breakfast including skillets and "healthy" omelettes. The lunch and dinner menus here are overpriced. If you are on a budget not the place for you unless you are ready to splurge. There are other places in town to have a good dinner and pay less.

Walking into Louie's is like walking into a big game hunt. Except the animals don't move. They stare at you while you eat and they're not exactly small. Eating under a moose head that must weigh in at around 500 pounds might be exciting for some, and it's certainly "Alaskana" until you realize that if the damn thing ever fell off the wall, you'd be toast. That being said, we'll move on.

The waitresses always look tired and overworked. That is, if you can find them. For the prices you pay, service REALLY should be better. As locals, we have eaten here several times and it never changes. We repeatedly ask for soup as an APPETIZER. It always shows up 30 seconds before your entree. If I am paying $6 for a cup of soup that is ladled out of a pot, then send in the Soup Nazi or something! I would like to enjoy an appetizer, not gulp it down like morning coffee. But then, when you have two waitresses for an entire restaurant I suppose it is what it is.

Secondly, ADD UP YOUR BILL YOURSELF! You know, the little calculator on your phone? Use it! My husband got a soup and salad lunch combo. He was charged for the combo AND another cup of soup. They said they would send a credit to our credit card company, which would have taken about 5 days! My husband said that they could give him the difference back in CASH and NOW would be a good time, since it was their screw up. We're not mean people, it's just that this seems to happen EVERY time we go there.

In all fairness, the food is good. But it's a bit pricey, considering all that you have to "pay for" to have a decent dining experience.
