“Great food at a great price, but tends to be crowded.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2010

In July, 2010, stumbled into Kenny's while looking for a downtown Juneau restaurant not filled with cruise ship tourists. Kenny's is definitely a "local" restaurant. Prices are great and the selection of food was very good. Did not try the Sushi, sticking instead with traditional chinese selections, but was not disappointed. The food is very good and the place is very clean. Not a good place too lounge around and eat a slow meal because it tends to be crowed with regular locals. Good stop for cruise ship folks that don't want to get ripped off at Juneau's tourist trap dining spots.

“Not great, but not bad either.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2010

Kenny's has good, quick service and a good atmosphere. The food, I think, is on the lower side of average--but is extremely satisfying if all you're looking for is some greasy, salty, satisfying Chinese or Japanese food. They serve "salads" of iceberg lettuce, shaved carrot and Thousand Island dressing alongside some of their dishes, which I find both weird and pleasant.
I did have a bad experience at Kenny's about a year ago when I found some mold on the cucumber in my sushi--they did not give me a refund for the moldy sushi, but the sushi chef was very apologetic and made me another roll to take home, which did not have any moldy cucumber on it. I've eaten there several times since then, no repeat incidents.

“Local favorite - Good food and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2009

A good local restaurant with good selection of oriental fare - bento boxes, Japanese or Chinese cuisine. The sushi is good and if you are dining by yourself sitting at the sushi bar can be an interesting experience. As a downtown worker, I know I can always go here mid-day year-round for a $6-7 lunch special and walk away satisfied. No reservations are taken.

“Disappointing Sushi and entrees lathered in MSG”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2009

Ordered a "Sumo" roll which was supposed to be a fresh tuna and crab roll topped with avocado. A little on the skinny side with what appeared to be and tasted like imitation crab meat, the tuna was fresh but very sparse. My entree was chicken chow mien and teriyaki chicken, egg roll and white rice. The chicken teriyaki was greasy and tasteless without noodles?? Then there is the chicken teriyaki which was covered in a thick MSG based slim. When the bill was delivered it was not itemized with any prices, just the items I had ordered, I had to go find a menu to check the bill against the actual prices. Once the four lurking employees noticed what I was doing they printed off an itemized receipt and brought it to my table.

“Good, solid fare.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2008

This is the larger of the two chain Kenny's. In Sitka it was so crowded we had to take out. This one is much larger and has a pleasant family vibe. We especially enjoyed the Japanese menu over the Chinese. Sushi, teriyaki, bento combinations were fine. Captain Steve (Adventure Bound) told us he's a regular. The location is convenient just on the edge of the noise and crowds.

Reasonably priced for Alaska.
