“Good location”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We stayed here for eight days and it was ok for what we paid. We stayed on the third floor and our room was a good size but in need of a bit of redecorating as it is bit jaded. There was a kitchenette but it had very little in the way of pots and pans to cook with. It was functional enough however and we didn't need to cook a lot thankfully as we were out for dinner at friends or in town most nights.

The location was good as it was only a ten minute walk to the main street and there was a very good shopping centre with a supermarket and other shops only a two minute walk away. It is also right next to the museum. The room looked out onto the carpark like most of them do I think, with the mountains in the background. It was quiet at nights so no trouble sleeping.

The staff were ok, the friendliest one was our cleaning lady who went out of her way for us and was very helpful. I only saw reception twice and both times they seemed efficient enough.

An ok place to stay.

My wife and I found the free shuttle to and from the airport and ferry terminal to be very helpful and the driver was most friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable with simple cooking facilities and a separate shower over bath and toilet. Its location would be good if you were wanting to explore some of Juneau's attractions as it is well positioned near the town area. We did strike the rudest reception staff there in 8 weeks of a wonderful Alaskan holiday which has stuck in our memories.

I stayed at the Driftwood Lodge in late August. I was there for three days. I had a very nice stay there. The room was big and roomy, I was on the second floor. The view was only of the parking lot. I had a kitchenette, which consisted of a stove, full size refrigerator and sink. The bed was comfortable. Overall, I had a very good stay at the Driftwood. This was my second stay.

Free shuttle to and from the airport which was nice. Shuttle drivers very friendly. Check in was easy & they honored our request for ground level rooms that we had made when we made reservation. Easy walk to downtown attractions. Room was clean & beds comfortable. It was cool & raining so did not have to use heat or AC. Very reasonably priced.

If you're looking for a hotel in the heart of Juneau that won't cost a small fortune, this is your place. Because the Driftwood provides shuttle service provided to and from the airport, this hotel will also save you the cost of a taxi. Hotel rooms are clean and equipped with the basics. We requested a room above the ground level, but there is no elevator, so we had to carry bags up the stairs. Like other reviewers, we heard some voices in the parking lot at night, but the noise didn't keep us awake. The view of Mt. Juneau outside the hotel is gorgeous, and the hotel is only a short walk from downtown. Breakfast at the Sandpiper next door is very good. We were meeting a cruise ship the next day, and because it was raining, the hotel agreed to shuttle us to our meeting location. Very customer friendly!

Free shuttles from Airport and Ferry Dock which are 20 to 40 minutes from downtown. The shuttle was convenient in both directions. This alone makes the motel a good deal, the motel is a very good value by Alaska standards .

The motel is a basic motel with no frills, they gave us bar soap, but no shampoo. We had a room on the second floor in a corner which was not noisy. We found the bed to be very soft, the room was clean and in decent condition. There were lots of cable channels on the TV.
The staff of the motel were helpful and friendly.

The motel is located in a very good location, next to the new Alaska museum, a few minutes walk to down town with its restaurants , and two minute walk to a large well stocked supermarket.

There was a major problem with the room, no air conditioning. Alaska was having a major heat wave (in the 90's F.) The one openable window, only opened a few inches so it was unbearably hot in the room. We had to leave the front door open most of the time.

Because of the good location, reasonable cost and free shuttles, we would probable stay here again, if Alaska is not having a heat wave.

Room Tip: Get a room that has a window that opens more than a few inches if it is hot outside.
