Outstanding! Our host, Jeff, met us on our arrival with a freshly poured Guinness and showed us to our suite. The first evening, we sat on our porch and watched the tide roll in. When it became too chilly we retreated to the suite’s living room and enjoyed some of the whisky that was thoughtfully provided. We also enjoyed the suite’s library which includes an eclectic variety of Alaskan history, fiction and humor.

The suite had a well equipped kitchen where we were able to cook some of our catch. Fresh, broiled halibut is a treat that makes the frozen variety taste like cardboard.

After the amazing breakfasts that Jeff provided each day, he was able to arrange or suggest side trips for us. In each of these excursions, we were able to get far from the maddening crowds; despite it being the height of the tourist season.

The fishing, wildlife, sight-seeing and hiking was spectacular, and thanks to Jeff’s suggestions we enjoyed pristine, crowd free views..

Since the Alaska Wolf House prices were quite moderate, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, the comfort of the suite and the helpfulness of Jeff and Becky. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast to those who are willing to pay a slight premium for a top notch experience.

After having stayed at some wonderful B & B's in Alaska we were very disappointed with our stay at the Alaska Wolf House. First of all, it was an extremely long walk from downtown; I guess most of their visitors have cars but the proprietor did not have a bus schedule available, and wasn't even sure where the closest bus stop was. One of the biggest problems was that guests do not really have access to a living room or area in which to sit other than the bedroom (which in our case was very small.) While we could enjoy a lovely living room during breakfast (which was excellent) we were informed that this space was for the family's use only the rest of the time. If we wanted coffee, tea, information we had to intrude on the family, which was very uncomfortable. One of the biggest problems was that, on our last day, we had a very late night ferry and had to spend a long, rainy and exhausting day wandering around Juneau. The other B & B's in which we'd stayed in Alaska, in contrast, were very generous in understanding that ferry schedules are inconvenient and that travellers have odd schedules. But the most serious disappointment and problem was that a very expensive boat trip that we had chartered was inaccurately described to us and we were out A LOT of money and unable to participate in one of the major activities (a trip to the glacier) that we had looked forward to in Junea.
