We stopped here on 7/24 after going to Mendenhall glacier before going back to our ship. The place was very entertaining with lots to see on the walls. The waitresses were dressed period style and very hospitable. The piano player was very funny and kept the place lively. Had a fun stop here!

Yes, it was crowded, but being solo the hostess was able to find me a seat at the bar. It was slightly awkward as there were two men who were visiting together but sitting one stool apart and I was placed between them - I'd have thought one would move over, but no - it all worked out though. The bartender was awesome - the Alaska Brewing Company White was great (I'm going to miss that back East!!), and the chicken fingers while regular fare were hot and tasty. The homemade barbecue sauce was yummy! The musician was great and played old-school country music. Overall it was great!

This is not the original location of the Red Dog Saloon so it is a bit contrived as a tourist trap but it is still a worthwhile experience for the atmosphere. We had drinks, beer and lunch in this crowded attraction where you are blocked just beyond the swinging doors, seated wherever there is a space available and then led out the back exit through the large gift shop of everything Red Dog. The menu was spartan and the food was poor but if you're just there for a drink and a little re-created atmosphere then it is worth the stop. Not a place to wander and gawk because they demand paying customers. It is THE central tourist trap in the port area so accept it for what it is and enjoy.

The tables are packed in so tight that you can hardly actually sit in the chairs surrounding the tables. The live music was fine, but the singer was exceptionally rude. The decor was really cool, but that was about it. It's just really famous, so everyone goes there.

OMG, it's just like stepping back into the 1800's. you walk in through swinging saloon doors to an awesome sight. Firstly there is saw dust on the floor. Seriously.....The walls are adorned with all kinds of stuff. The barmaids are dressed in the appropriate attire for the era and there is a guy playing honky Tonk music on the piano. It has a great atmosphere and it was very crowded when we were there as everyone was getting the experience. You can just have a drink or order food and there is a gift shop next door.
