“A little hokey, but definitely fun”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stopped at the Red Dog Saloon for lunch during a port call in Juneau. We'd been in Juneau before on other cruises and hadn't taken the time. This was our plan for the day -- we had a decent lunch at (considering the it IS a tourist attraction) a reasonable price. Part of what you pay for is the entertainment value. We got prompt attentive service. We enjoyed the funky kitchy decor and the piano player making up slightly bawdy lyrics to well known songs on the spur of the moment was a treat.

“Fun, Fun, Fun”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

The Red Dog Saloon was a great port in a storm (cold, rainy Juneau day). We had a blast in a packed bar with sawdust floors, cold beer, great entertainment, and absolutely everything hanging from the walls. Lots of fun and worth the stop.

“Excellent food and atmosphere”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Having visited Juneau Alaska on several occasions I finally had the oppurtunity to go and try the red dog saloon for the first time.

Wow! What an amazing and much different experience. The actual saloon itself from the inside is definitely not a sight for sore eyes as there writing all over the saloon walls and ceiling , dead stuffed animals and wood shavings on the floor but by having all of this it really created that reall saloon feel ( like I was back in time during the cowboy era).

The food was also incredible I ate a pork sandwich which was absolutely rich and fantastic and I also got the oppurtunity to eat reindeer sausage yes that right reindeer sausage , it was not bad what so ever tasted alot like chorizo ( Portuguese sausage) . The night ended off with some good music from a local and his piano and once again just and all in all great experience and would recommend it to any travelers come to this are and remember to either go during the late evening or early as possible as because it's such a great attraction and forms a part of history in Juneau it's extremely popular

“Fun place”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

We were in Juneau as it was one of the stops on our AK cruise. This place is a blast. They had a gray haired gentleman singing and playing piano who was just a hoot! The place was jam packed because there were 4 cruise ships in port, but the service was still fast and friendly. Two of us had Margaritas that were excellent, the husbands just had beer. The place is no longer locally owned, it's owned by either one of the cruise ship companies or foreign investors (don't remember which). But they have not changed it's historical charm. A must see if you are in Juneau. We didn't eat here, so can't comment on that.

“A tourist bar”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

We had a hour to kill before the cruise ship sailed so we stopped in at the Red Dog Saloon. It's located just one block from the cruise ships. Very touristy but fun. Drinks were reasonable, we did not eat there. There was no service for drinks, we got our drinks at the bar. Entertainment was usual tourist fare. We enjoyed the decor and the memorabilia of the gold rush era. It was loud and crowded and I would not want to spend much time there. Would prefer to see the local hang outs instead but an OK way to spend an hour.
