“My Favorite Place to Stay in Juneau”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

The Capital Inn is a lovely place to stay. The innkeepers are warm and welcoming, and the inn is an historical venue with an interesting past. I've only stayed here in the winter during session. I've stayed in several of the rooms, with my favorite being the one at the top of the house, with the big bathroom and tub. The breakfasts are great, and the other guests typically are fun to chat with, as at the time of the year I've been there, they are usually there for business/politics. It's a little echoey / noisy as these old big houses can be, and it's a little chilly sometimes, but that's Juneau. I love this place. This place is my first choice to stay in Juneau.

Linda and Mark are so welcoming and wonderful. We recently stayed in Lelas suite which was very comfortable. Very nice bathroom. Breakfasts hearty and delicious. It is clear that much thought is given to how to make the guests feel at home. Linda and Mark should train other b&b owners. Dont stay anywhere else in Juneau if you can stay here. The Pictures on the website do not do this lovely inn juatice.

Room Tip: LelAs suite has a lovely view and is very large

Alaska's Capital Inn is fabulous. The rooms were very comfortable and the beds were very nice and comfortable. The bathrooms were consistent with a bed and breakfast but much bigger than most. The water was hot and stayed hot for our showers.
The location is excellent and it is an easy walk to dowtown. The Capital building is only a couple of blocks a way.
The best part of the bed and breakfast were the owners! Linda was so helpful and responsive to my emails. She made recommendations for local tour companies that were terrific. On the day we left we had to meet a cruise line at another hotel. Mark offered to give us a ride over there without us asking.
I read one negative comment on here about the breakfast. I have no idea where this came from! The breakfasts we had were simply outstanding! In fact, almost everything was homemade from the jams to the muffins and bread! I expected muffins and fruit and juice and coffee. However, we got much much more! There was so much food that we literally did not eat again until dinner. There are snacks for the afternnoon also. Linda's homemade cookies were terrific.
In my opinion this is by far the best place to stay in Juneau!

Room Tip: We love Lela's room.

Linda and Mark can't do enough to make you feel at home. Their home is beautifully appointed with lots of wood and antiques. The full hot breakfast is always delicious and with something special being served such as two types of pancakes, or different kinds of muffins and jams. When you come back from your day of outings, there is always something to snack on that Linda baked or wine to drink. Linda baked a birthday cake and surprised the guest at breakfast one morning. The house is located right by the City Museum, State Capital and is a five minute walk to downtown. They were also gracious to allow us to leave a suitcase there while we went off on our kayak trip where luggage is limited.

Linda and Mark with their lovely B & B has made me rethink my reluctance to staying in B & B's. You can tell a lot of time has gone into their thinking of their guests and what they need. Breakfasts were delicious, snacks ( including wine in the evening) are out on the table at all times and Linda is an amazing baker. The hot tub was so welcome after hiking !
The furniture of the house is beautiful and the house a wonderful place to relax. We were traveling with two other couples and sitting around the breakfast table was delightful. Linda was very helpful in providing suggestions during our stay. I will definitely return !

This B & B is located up the hill from the Juneau harbor and is therefore in a quiet residential/business area, but an easy walk to everything. Great access to local museums, shopping, restaurants, etc. Linda and Mark are friendly, helpful and accommodating hosts. We were only able to have their cooked breakfasts once because we were always leaving early for trips, but they prepared us a bag breakfast to go. The breakfast that we did have was delicious! Our room was nice, but because it was downstairs right off the dining area, it was noisy very early in the mornings - even earlier than we were getting up for our early trips. We enjoyed the wine and snacks that were always available and the homemade granola was great!

My husband and I traveled to Juneau recently...with another couple...and stayed at the Capital Inn B & B. Wonderful! We had the Governor's Suite up in the attic. We had everything we needed up there! TV, bath suite, big king bed, great views. Mark was a terrific host and helped us with anything we needed. Breakfasts were awesome. The location was perfect to walk around Juneau. I would highly recommend this B & B if staying in Juneau.

Room Tip: The Governor's Suite was really nice...but all the rooms looked good!
