I only had a chocolate drink while I was there and while it was DELICIOUS, I didn't feel like it was worth the price. All of the food looked very good as well, but I didn't want to spend that much on them. So, if you're looking for a dessert to splurge on, this is the place to go.

Glad you enjoyed the drink, and I hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit to Juneau as much! True, the extraordinary drinking chocolates at Pie in the Sky might cost more than your average cup of hot cocoa elsewhere but, prices are commensurate with specialty chocolate shops in Anchorage, Seattle, and Portland. They are each made from scratch with high quality ingredients including pure, bittersweet or real white chocolate, raw organic cane sugar (when sugar is desired), freshly roasted nuts, organic Sri Lanka true cinnamon, and others depending on which drink you prefer. No powdered mixes or chocolate syrup in here, and nothing pre-made. From what locals tell me, all the scratch-baked treats are priced at or below Juneau 'market' too, and of course contain the best ingredients available.

Some friends of ours from the Disney Cruise ship asked us to please go with them and try out this coffee shop/bakery. So glad we did. While the wait was long, the drinks and snacks we received were SUPERB! Much better than what we received on the Disney Cruise line (and that is saying something).

Pie in the Sky fills a needed niche in Juneau's food scene. Whereas there are many cafes offering coffee and pastries downtown, only Pie in the Sky offers savory chocolate drinks. Not everyone likes their treats to be cloying. Pie in the Sky's mexican chocolate drinks, served with little sugar and a lot of chili powder, are truly unusual and satisfying. In addition to these unique offerings are a large selection of quality pies and pastries. The coffee is excellent. Sometimes you can find dark chocolate chunks from Hawaii. The proprietor's attention to quality is welcome in a cafe scene that can occasionally get sloppy.

have purchased desserts several times at the walk-up window (only choice available) and have had some good ones, and some prro ones. it is very much the luck of the draw. Prices are OK for hand-made desserts/candies, but it's frustrating to not get consisstently good choices.

I would like to point out that there is a table at the entry to the bakery, and also tables and seating in the gallery which are available for enjoying Pie in the Sky purchases as well as beautiful artwork which changes monthly. The regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., and occasionally it is open earlier.

This tiny place was a pleasant surprise on Seward Street, away from tourist crowds but not so far that it's out of the way. We were on our way to look at the Capitol building when the aroma drew us in so we had to have something! Scones were fresh from the oven, the pie selection was creative and wonderful, and it took a few minutes to decide which of the amazing chocolate drinks to try, built right there in front of us. There was even a selection of gluten-free things to nibble on. It's like nothing we've seen anywhere else, and everything we tried was delicious. Enjoying our treats in the gallery full of local art was a plus too. This place is worth looking for, for sure.
