Perhaps we were just very lucky, but we saw numerous humpback whales breaching and fin slapping - a fabulous experience

We called into Juneau on a 7 night 1-way cruise from Vancouver to Whittier. We did not plan a whale watching tour in advance, as we were concerned about the weather - we are not very good in boats and get seasick easily. When we arrived in Juneau, the weather was wet and blowy, so we walked around the town for a few hours. By late morning, the weather had cleared up, so we bought a whale watching tour from one of the numerous sales booths near to the cable car station. It is normally $120 each, but they were offering it for $90 due to the lateness in the season.

We caught a coach from near the cable car station to another harbour, with an informative and friendly guide/driver. We boarded a new light and fast boat and were whisked away at good speed to the whale feeding area. Once there, we waited in anticipation until we saw our first humpback swimming slowly. Then for 1/2 hour we were treated to a spectacular display of beaching by mothers and calves. I do not know how many times whales breached for us, but it was 12 plus. I took lots of photos, but missed many breaches - it's difficult to know where they are going to surface.

The tours are restricted to 1/2 hour with the whales and we rightfully retreated after such a wonderful display. They then took us to a colony of sea lions - excellent too.

The weather was very kind to us. Mild, sunny and with gentle seas - we did not feel seasick at all. They provide tea and coffee and there is a clean loo on board. There were viewing areas to the front and rear of the boat and lots of room for everyone to see. The guide was informative, but the whales are the stars.

We've been fortunate to be able to visit so many wonderful places around the world. This was one of our best experiences. We just did not want it to end. Thanks Dolphin.

Had a wonderful time with Captain Larry and Kelly. We saw orca whales and grey whales. Kelly made it so much fun with her enthusiasm. She carried on everytime a whale was spotted, it really added to the excitement. I would highly recommend going with Orca. Great time and a great crew.

Booked with Dolphin Tours last minute, as soon as I got off the Cruise Ship. They Exceeded our expectations in every way. The guides were very informative and skilled, getting us close to many whales, including Orcas. Went with Captain Larry and Kelly who has excellent eagle eyes for spotting those whales. Scenery was awesome by itself. A bald eagle posed by the dock before we left. Our first sighting was a rogue Orca. We saw at least a dozen humpbacks. I'm very glad Captain Larry is involved in protecting these creatures from over zealous boat captains. They are truly a treasure. Overall, it was very informative.

It was a true pleasure to whale watch with Captain Larry again. He delivered an abundance of whales as well as an abundance of good memories. This tour was just as good as it was 12 years ago. Highly recommend this tour
