Owner description: Join us for glacier dogsledding. This is a once in a lifetime adventure and you won't want to miss it. Accessible only by helicopter you will fly with TEMSCO Helicopters over some of the most amazing country in the world. Your pilot will land at dog camp where Alaska Icefield Expeditions will take you out dogsledding on the glacier. We have two locations. Join us on the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau and the Denver Glacier outside of Skagway. Excursions include a combined 25-30 minutes of scenic flight time on the way to and from our glacier dog camps. Once in camp, you'll experience the musher way of life and meet the true athletes, the dogs, of Alaska's official state sport. Following introductions and instruction, You will be out mushing on the glacier beneath the awe inspiring backdrop of the Juneau Ice Field.

This was so memorable on our honeymoon last July that my profile photo is me standing on the glacier with my Bahamian flag. Pilot said it was the hottest he had ever known it up there, ice was melting under our boots - took our weather with us, as Jimmy Buffett says in his song!! Friends went on same cruise following week and the weather socked in, missed out on excursion of a life time. Pick up, organisation, flight, pilot friendliness and knowledge could not have been better. Awesome adventure!

Wonderful view for mountains. Juneau offers a wide selection of Native art shopping. Cruises to Juneau show you the most beautiful views, with options for once-in-a-lifetime shore excursions that include walking on glaciers, whale watching, and hikes through the country’s last old growth forests. Family friendly destination. We very enjoyed the round cruise trip from Seattle to Skagway with NCL (Sawyer Glacier) by Norwegian Jewel.

We were unable to go up to the glacier because of weather problems two days in a row. Not anyone's fault and the folks at Alaska Icefield/Temsco Helicopters were as accommodating as they could be, but I thought I'd let other travelers know that you should have alternate plans in mind and not be too disappointed if you can't go dog sledding on top of Mendenhall glacier...

Thank you for your review McCamBJD and for sticking with us as we attempted to fulfill our service. We apologize for the weather and appreciate your suggestion for folks to have a backup plan.

Southeast Alaska is a bountiful and beautiful place from the fjords, glaciers and ice fields to the salmon runs, bears and whales. This is all attributed to the stunning mountains and the warm pacific airmass colliding into them. This fact alone creates the largest temperate rainforest on Earth stretching from Northern California to Kodiak Island. Unfortunately, the ideal conditions sought for glacier dogsledding just happen to be in Juneau and Skagway, laying approximately in the middle of this rainforest.

As an operator, we are sorry to have let you down, as an Alaskan Family, we truly hope that your experience did not diminish your time exploring our state.

For those of you interested in glacier dogsledding, we operate solely on VFR, or Visual Flight Response. if we can's see, we don't fly. Considering alternatives prior to arrival, such as the weather independent Gold Rush Sled Dogs of Sheep Creek, is a great way to avoid further disappointment in the event of weather. We apologize for the waiting game that you were subjected to McCamBJD, thank you for your understanding and respect, I hope you received reciprocal service.

Thank you again for taking the time to leave your review and for visiting Southeast Alaska this summer, please consider joining us in the future, we will do out best to get you to the glacier. Take Care
