We just returned from a cruise and booked the Summer Dog Sled Camp. Originally we were worried this would be a little bit of a touristy / hyped up thing to do, but in actuality the tour is extremely authentic. These mushers live on Sheep Creek Mountain during the summer with their dogs and offer these tours during the summer for supplementary income. They are passionate about what they do, really informative, and some of them raced the Iditarod which was amazing to hear about. They show you around the camp, take you inside their cabins and show you their gear, dog sleds, etc. Then they give you a 15 minute ride on a make-shift cart with the dogs. It was such an amazing experience, and the dogs get so excited to run! Afterwards we were able to meet / hold the puppies and the possible future Iditarod runners. What a great experience!
