“Alaska Whale Watching went above and beyond...”

Alaska Whale Watching
Reviewed September 15, 2013

We booked with Alaska wale watching company through Alaska Galore booking agents. We initially booked with them because of the buy one get one whale watching tour in the Alaska Toursaver Book. So, not only did we save a lot of money with the toursaver book, but we have no regrets booking through them. The day started out as a nightmare...never have I seen a cruise line so disorganized with their tendering process (boating passengers into port). We continued to keep in touch with the tour operator by phone, but the tendering process was just taking to long. The tour waited 20 extra minutes before finally having to depart. We were distraught when we got off the boat finally. That was, at least, until the tour operator told us that they had arranged a boat to go out just for all of the folks on Celebrity that had also missed their tour. They took us on a little tour through town and also made about a 25 minute stop at Mendenhall Glacier so we could take photos (this was not a part of the original tour even). The captain and our guide were totally down to earth and funny too. The whales did not disappoint either. We ended up seeing a handful of whales and also a few seals. The whales were competing for our attention (that is what I like to think) and we even had a whale that breached I believe it was five times closely in a row. We also had a few that were "waving" at us with their pectoral fins (whale hands). It was truly amazing. I would describe it as completely adrenalizing and truly calming at the same time; which if you have been whale watching before I am sure you may be able to relate. Thank you for saving the day in Juneau!

The whale watching segment was just AWESOME! Jeff, the naturalist on the tour was fantastic. We started out with seeing a few humpback whales, mostly just breaking the water then see their "tails" sliding into the water. Next there was a whale breaching that was just beautiful. We then saw a sight, that according to our naturalist, very few tourists get see. That was the bubble net feeding. Not only did we get to see that in the first place but got to see it a second time on the opposite side of our tour boat--so close the captain had to move the boat a bit! We were able to see this up close and also get some amazing photos. The Mendenhall Glacier was a beautiful sight. Flower were in bloom, the sun was shining & the sky was blue. My husband & I HIGHLY recommend this tour

We had several whale watching experiences in other parts of the world and came off disappointed and could not decide if we should go on this one. A couple we knew invited us to join them on a private cruise but seats were all taken up by the time we decided to accept their invitation. When we arrived at ISP early in the morning, we decided to go with the 1st boat of the cruise ship tour. How lucky we were. Not only did we sight some 10 Ocar and killer whales, but they were putting up a show for us, breaching, dancing and singing away. They dive deep and came out of the water playfully. You would not except such grace fullness from such huge mammals. All these without human synchronization. Our friends who was out on the private tour was envious when they saw our photos later. They saw whales but no show. Just swimming around without any other activities. I can only say that when it comes to sighting wild life, it depends very much on luck and whether you pay private or cruise ship tours. I thus wish all of you going out to watches the same luck we had and all an enjoyable trip.

this was the best tour we had as we did see whales jumping out of the water and on kid for over 30 minutes. there were seal eagles and others to see. they do work for there people to find whales or give you $100 if they do not find whales.
We did this on a cruise with NCL Pearl which I will say is a nice ship but well the cabin person really just makes bed and puts towels in you , as for cleaning no good we had same dirt in the bathroom for the whole 7 day cruise. The food is just so so I think as the buffet is a food frenzy and not enough seating you will walk around a lot to find one. Main dining is much better but menu is not a large but service is great. Best part of Cruise was the Coffee Bar they were the best thanks" I" great bartender
