This is a GREAT tourist value. 16 bucks/adult round trip from downtown Juneau to Mendenhall (Our cruise line charged 44 bucks/adult for almost the same trip with time limits!) Busses run on the half hour so you can take your time exploring this wonderful natural wonder. The drivers provide narration and interesting insight into the local area. A great bank for your buck.

We used this bus service for the 2nd time and were very pleased with the service. Our first trip was in 2009 and felt we had a great value so we didn't hesitate to go with them again. For $16 per person round trip it was an inexpensive way to get to the Mendenhall Glacier area. On our return, we were the only people on the bus and the driver dropped us off in town right in front of the restaurant we wanted. Great service since we didn't have to walk back to the restaurant from the bus parking lot. Would recommend to friends that they use this bus service.
It's a LONG walk to the visitors center from the city bus stop. And it's UPHILL!
They take more passengers back to the cruise ships than to the glacier, and that should tell you something. :-)
$16 round trip from cruise ports to the Mendenhall Glacier park. It takes 20 mins to get there. It only runs on hour and half hour. Definitely the cheap and efficient way to get to and from glacier.
Our family just returned from an Alaskan cruise. Thank you for the previous recommendations to catch the Glacier Express Blue Bus to see this awesome glacier. The rate was $16 per person, what a deal. It was about a 1/2 hour ride or less and the bus drivers were informative; buses leave every 20 minutes from Franklin St.
Mendenhall was spectacular! Our family enjoyed walking on the trails and taking pictures of flowers, nature, waterfall, and the glacier. Our teenagers enjoyed "hiking" and what an experience for them to say and remember, they went "upclose" to a glacier.
If you would like to visit the Visitor Center, there is a $3 fee.
