The setting is quite nice, resting within a bowl, surrounded by trees, with Gold creek flowing by.
Thursday nights in the summer are when Beer ball is held - which is great fun for all.
In the winter you may want to keep your' eyes open to avoid local Drunks who sometimes use the shelters there to Drink.

Hiking very close to downtown Juneau. Waterfalls, crystal ponds, and the most breathable air in America. Trail runs from the top of Mount Roberts all the way through some old mining trails, wooden bridges and walkways down to Cope Park on the Northwest side of the city. Can get into areas that require some steep climbing. My dogs love this trail.
