Anyway, I don't know its just a small, kind of dirty local park. There's a nice little walk off to the side that goes behind cope park to the flume (river that turns into artificial river). Theres some hobos that live around the park.

Bottom line: an okay local park to have picnics or for youngsters to smoke at, but not really and attraction if you are a tourist.

Just a short drive up the mountain found us parked at one of the prettiest parks in town. We didn't take advantage of the tennis courts but they looked nice. Instead we walked along the river looking for salmon heading up stream....A lot of trees and very clean. A short walk around the corner took us the The Evergreen Cemetery where Joe Juneau and Richard Harris (Juneaus co-founders) are buried! It was a very nice walk and I enjoyed the local neighborhoods and the colorful houses and flowers. If you arrive by ship...I would guess it's about a 20 minute walk one way. If the weather is as pretty as it was today...I vote YES!

“A nice way to get a feel for Juneau”

Cope park is worth a visit for those walking around Juneau. As you approach the park walk over to your left and view the clear running stream. You can also follow a trail that comes to a bridge cross the stream..... or you can go onto the baseball field and admire the view of the mountains. Then look for the stairs that lead upwards. When you come out you will be on a road up above the town. You can look down and see the cruise ships and have a nice view down the channel.
