During the months of May and June, you will have the opportunity to see juvenile salmon prior to their release. Adult salmon start returning in Late June and continue through October. Bald Eagles and seals frequent the hatchery and provide a fantastic wildlife viewing opportunity. Once inside, explore our salt water aquariums displaying over 150 species of marine life, including touch-tank aquariums where you will have the chance to physically interact with local sea animals. Venture through our gift-shop where we make it easy to ship wild Alaskan salmon anywhere in the United States. We came here on our own to see the salmon running up the ladder ... incredible! We just got the basic ticket and checked out the ladder (3rd week of July) ... so amazing to see in person! Inexpensive ticket, cheap taxi ride from the port ... do this if you are here during the run!

Very informational place to learn about he salmon in southeast. Kids will like the tanks inside and watching the fish climb the spawning ladder in the fall.

This was part of our Juneau highlights tour. I wasn't excited to see it but I am glad we went. It was far more interesting that I expected. We learned about the types of salmon and he spawning process.

We found this tour fascinating, and especially warmed to the place when a tour guide quickly took our group of 6 on our own tour instead of grouping us with the incoming busload of patrons. Learned a great deal about the salmon industry!

I had been to this salmon hatchery 20 yrs. ago . It appears to be about the same .Always interesting . Cruise ships were in so it was busy with several bus loads for visitors . we did not get involved with the tour group and did not have the complete explaination of the process but it was still worth the trip to check it out.
