“GreatCrab Cakes”
Reviewed September 28, 2008

After a very disappointing experience at another Juneau attraction my wife and I decided to take the Mt. Roberts Tram and do the hike around the summit. Even though it was raining we enjoy the views. The hike around the sumit was good and the first nation exhibits and movie were interesting. In the visitor center we go into the restaurant and order something to eat at the bar and a draft beer. We meet “Janice?” the bar tender. She’s real friendly and tells us all about her life in Juneau. We order the crab cakes and they are outstanding. I love crab cakes and these are some of the best I’ve ever had. She tells us that the chief is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and his cooking certainly shows it. We then have a hot apple crisp desert. It’s great! This part of the Juneau is a hidden gem for lunch and is certainly worthwhile. If you’re in Juneau go to the top of Mt. Roberts, the views are wonderful, the visitor center entertaining and order the crab cakes they're great.

“Hike up? Be prepared...”
Reviewed August 30, 2008

Is the tram expensive? Oh yes. If you go wait for a clear day.
We thought a hike would be fun. It was a giggle for my adventurous teen who watched his parents struggle for much of the 1.5 hr. incline without water or snacks. Our highlights were meeting fellow hikers, who would universally comment "Are we there yet? not even close..."
Steep and muddy - half hour just to get to the trailhead from town and a long trek to the top. If you heed the warnings you will not be surprised. Ride the tram down for a $5, gift shop purchase.

“Beautiful view, nice little hike up top”
Reviewed August 13, 2008

Surprisingly, we were really glad we chose to do the tram. It was a beautiful view from up there. We stopped in the restaurant at the top for a beverage and were surprised to find that they had one of Alaskan Brewing Co's harder to find rough draft beers.

Then we took one of the shorter trails up top and it was just beautiful. You really shouldn't miss the chance to see Juneau from up here.

“Don't go home without going to the top of Mt Roberts.”
Reviewed August 11, 2008

Call it a tourist attraction. Call it too expensive. But, this is one thing I would not want to have come back from Juneau Alaska saying that I had not done. Great views, wonderful little theatre, nice nature center and gift shop, really cool hiking trails with fantastic greenery and views, and good food in the Timberline Bar & Grill. We were not really keen on the enormous height of the tramway station, but this was somehow made manageable because the views were so fabulous. Don't miss seeing the rescued (injured) bald eagle! We even spotted a hoary marmot on one of the trails. Hint: If you can't see the top of the tramway from the bottom of the mountain, wait for a clearer day.
