The Mount Roberts Tramway was not as fun as you would expect. There are longer and nicer tram rides in Montana and New Mexico. The tram ride only lasts a couple of minutes and ends at the top of a hill. You will get a nice view of down town, chance to do shopping in another gift shop and see a Bald Eagle in a cage. You probably will see Bald Eagles flying around, but there are a lot more to be seen in Wabasha Minnesota than in Juneau AK. The day that I was there it was warm and sunny which was proved to great weather for the swarming flies.
There are trails at the top of the hill which were well traveled and low impact.
I'm assuming if the weather was cooler the flies wouldn't have been an issue, but it definitely impacted the amount of time I spent hiking the trails and the time wanting to relax in this area.

A tram is a tram and most of the time you will always get a great view. The Mount Roberts Tramway is no exception. However, they have a nice little restaurant at the top along with great hiking trails for all levels of experience.

At the top, we saw so many bald eagles while hiking a fairly steep trail along the coastline of the inlet. Beautiful scenery and decent climate made this a nice experience.

Note: If you are not a hiker, this tram ride/experience is comparable to others. Tickets are expensive for a quick 4-minute ride.

There isn't much to do at the top. trails were closed as snow had not melted away in May. But the scenery from top is great so is the view of the harbor from above. Highlight was the ride up , specially at the end when it is about to dock at the top, bit scary.

Very expensive, eagle rescue center is nothing but A bird in A cage. Been there , done that. Nothing special, views are great but your are in alaska.

Was planning on not visiting, as it seems like such a tourist trap, and it is pricey. However, we had some time on our hands and thought it would be better than aimlessly walking the downtown area. We were pleasantly surprised and had a great time! Yes,the movie was a little hokey, but chatting with one of the staff was very interesting. We had a nice hike at the top and saw a marmot and a bald eagle (in a tree, not the poor eagle in the cage).

We didn't anticipate there would be good hiking trails and such amazing views! We even saw a marmot (a cute beaver-like creature).
