We went for Octoberfest and had lots of fun. the shops are filled with cool stuff. The best part was the eagle...sad to see her caged, but amazing to be so close to one of nature's magnificent animals.

The upper terminal of the tram is really ungainly and looks like the hulk of a spaceship crashed into the mountainside. Even worse is the restaurant, where the kitchen hogs the view side and the patrons get to stare at trees. The food is marginal and the gifts are a bit trinkety. But the hike on the nature trail, or even farther up towards Mt. Roberts if it's a nice day, is worth doing. I would recommend hiking up the trail from downtown Juneau though -- take the tram back down for a mere $5 and save your knees from the steep descent.

We took the Mt. Roberts Tramway for the sole purpose of getting some nice aerial shots of the cruise ship pier. Even though it was raining, the view was great and we were able to get some really nice pictures.

There is a nice gift shop at the top that had some interesting art too.

Although pricey, we did enjoy it and would probably go again if we're back in Juneau and the weather is clear, just for a different perspective.

The hike after getting of the tram was breathtaking .....It was wonderful to be in the natural forest and away from the tourists and to see nature at it heighth of beauty!!! The clouds with the peaks of the mountain coming through, the incredible flowers and the waterfalls, the peace and quiet, the smell of the forest were the highlight of my cruise!!

Guess I've been on too many wonderful tram rides - this was so short, so expensive, and not a lot to see once you are at the top. If you want to see Juneau I'm told you can go to the top of the Capitol building for free and see Juneau. This was a big disappointment. Spend your vacation money some other way.
