The City Museum is a tiny little place located next door to the State Capitol Building. The staff is very cordial and ready with suggestions about places to see in Juneau. The museum doesn't take long to see, as it is only a few rooms on a single level, but it presents a different view of Alaska's history. You get a real feel for the political games surrounding statehood and the location of the state capitol. For a brief time, Alaska's capitol was located in a tent out in middle of the forest! Just one of the tricks that people pulled during the rather heated discussions related to statehood. Take an hour and see the museum. It's a nice, local feature that tour guides ignore.
