“A great kayak outfitter in Juneau”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

We had a great day kayaking at Mendenhall Glacier, despite the rain. A&BA had picked us up at the Cruise Ship terminal, took us over to the shop and got us setup with our rain gear and everything we needed. Hannah even gave us some history of the area on the drive to the lake. They provided good quality equipment and the day turned out great.

“Only way to see Mendenhall Glacier!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

We spent a fabulous day in Juneau hiking to the Mendenhall Glacier - yes, there were times that I wished my knees were twenty years younger, but the spectacular views were worth every ache and pain! Peter was a terrific guide and kept us all safe while giving us lots of information about the area and about glaciers in particular. We were lucky enough to be on the glacier when a large chunk of ice broke off, which was apparently fairly rare. And the ice cave was everything I could have asked for! You do NOT have to be an athlete to do this hike, but be prepared for some hairy moments on steep rocks especially if it is wet. My advice is to take it slow, accept help from the guide and sit down if you need to! We were on a cruise, but organized this excursion on our own and never worried about missing the boat. Highly recommend!

“Words can't describe”

WOW! Gabe & Steve made our trek up Mendenhall Glacier amazing. We had 12 in our group with varying levels of fitness and all made the trip without any major issues thanks to Gabe & Steve. We saw sites most people can only dream of. If in Juneau this is a must-do hike. Beautiful views and great photography shots. Hike is intense but WELL worth it.

“Great kayaking tour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

We were really lucky because it was a sunny and warm day when we went kayaking. We just booked the day before via telephone, which was not a problem. Everything was perfectly organized and our guide was very informative. The only downside was that we didn't see any wildlife (except some bald eagle, but you can spot them everywhere in Juneau), which seems to be normal for this kind of tour.

“"simply the the best"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

Above & Beyond Alaska (ABAK) is a great company. It is run well, all the employees are great communicators. I did the whale watch and kayak, very well organized. Peter our guide was considerate and respectful to all clients and the captain. Everybody at this company works well together. After the day on the water, my friends and I were stoked. I had another day booked with ABAK to do the Glacier Trek Hike. Peter was our guide as well and this day was unbelievably awesome. There was great instruction and clarity to everybody with names well remembered. Peter was very attentive to everybody's needs and the surroundings. A great hike to glacier and hike on the glacier was like being on another planet. then the ice cave was something that is a must experience. Its unexplainable, just go out and experience this adventure. Be sure you can hike for awhile, good boots, clothing and your set. This is the best company for all your excursions whether you fly in for the week or on a cruise, ABAK is on time there and back!! Enjoy!!
