Owner description: Daily cruises to the pristine wilderness of Tracy Arm Fjord. View mountains and rock walls that are over a mile high, tumbling waterfalls, and icebergs. Two active tidewater glaciers lie at the end of Tracy Arm Fjord. Wildlife may be spotted on this cruise, though it is not the main attraction of the trip. Our skilled captains ensure the best possible viewing of the sights for our guests.

“Excellent tour for the independent traveler”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

This was a wonderful tour geared to the independent traveler. The boat is smaller than many of the ships and boats that go into the fjord and as such can navigate the icebergs and get closer to the glacier at the end and to the other attractions along the way such as stunning waterfalls and wildlife along the shore. Also, since there is no cruise schedule to meet; this boat lingers at the glacier longer than most; increasing the odds of seeing calving of the glacier (which we did!). The crew was attentive and knowledgeable. It was a fabulous day, highly recommend this tour.

“Specatular scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

First off, there are obviously many reviews here of the Tracy Arm Fjord trip ON LARGE CRUISE LINES. Adventure Bound Alaska is a separate company that does daily excursions on smaller boats into Tracy Arm. This review is for them.

We did our research ahead of time and knew to expect a long day, varying temperatures (warm inside the boat, cold outside when the boat is moving, etc), and a simple lunch (sandwiches & chips), but spectacular scenery!!!

The crew was very helpful and informative, and the scenery was mind-blowingly beautiful. I did not feel that the boat was overly crowded, and we were all able to get a good view on the deck with no problem. We went up close enough to the glaciers to hear the calving, which was awesome.

I would recommend this to anyone, but you need to have your expectations set correctly: dress in layers, bring sunscreen, bring a lunch if you don't want a sandwich, and prepare for a long day on the boat. It is totally worth it.

“Tracy arm cruise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

We enjoyed the views of the glacier and ice bergs on the way, it just was very cramped on the boat and took 2 1/2 hours to get there and then 2 1/2 hours back. The Sawer glacier and south Sawer were amazing and we did see calving. This is spectacular to see, just the cramped ride up and back was not comfortable.

“Surreal!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

The cruise through the fjords of Tracey Arm provides one of the most beautiful and picturesque sights in North America. Unlike the fjords of Norway, which are pointed at the top, those of the Tracey Arm passage have been rounded off by millions of years of glacier activity. The fjords themselves appear almost surreal and god-like. The beauty of the Alaskan wilderness is beyond comparison. In addition to the fjords, one is treated to sparkling blue ocean water, amazing waterfalls, forested mountains and valleys, blue ice, and the wondrous Sawyer Glacier. You will also encounter an abundance of wildlife, such as harbor seals, bald eagles, and possibly even a few grizzly bears. Be sure to wear a heavy coat, hat, and gloves, because it does get very cold on the cruise. We took ours in July, and the temperature dropped into the high 30s. While In Juneau, this experience should be at the top of your list!!!

“Highlight of my Alaska trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

Adventure Bound Alaska and the tour they provided through the Tracy Arm was the highlight of my trip to Alaska! Our cruise ship was ~20 mins late letting us disembark. As they have a very tight schedule with the start of their tour, they kept in constant phone contact with us, waited for us and picked us up at the pier. Very much appreciated!

The staff and the trip were first rate all around. Captain Steve, as well as the deck hands, were chock full of information and kept the trip light and enjoyable. Though it's not billed as an animal viewing tour, Captain Steve knew where to look and was able to stop for multiple animal sightings on our trip back.

I highly recommend visiting the Tracy Arm with Adventure Bound Alaska, as it truly is a can't miss experience with a wonderful company. Thanks for the memories!
