We liked the ice, waterfall and the glacier itself. Nice visitors center. A little crowded enjoyed anyway.

Definitely worth a visit. Small visitor center but friendly, interactive staff and great views from visitor center as well as trails.

Definitely worth your time on a trip to Juneau. While we had hoped to have more time to do other things we were not at all dissatisfied for only having time to see the glacier and could have spent more than an hour there.
Specifically this was our first stop on our 8 day Alaskan Cruise with Princess Cruises and we chose the 3 hour Mendenhall Glacier Excursion. It was definitely worth the money we only wish we got to spend more time since you really only have an hour once to explore once there.

We hiked the West Glacier trail part of the way then west off trail to the glacier. What fun! It would have been more fun with poles as it was a hard hike and tough to walking on the glacier without poles but a wonderful hike and lots of fun. It was awesome seeing the glacier and getting to walk on it. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to explore the ice caves. What a great hike!

We arrived in Juneau via Cruise Ship, the Holland America m/s Zaandam. We were able to catch the shuttle bus to the glacier - it was just a short walk from the dock to where the bus picks you up. Tickets may have been $8 per person one way if I remember correctly. There are several booths selling tickets as you walk off the dock. The bus comes every 30 minutes. It was about a 25 minute ride to the glacier and the bus driver pointed out the sights along the way - including the Governor's Mansion. Once you got to the park, there was a Visitor Center that had some paying attractions like a movie. However since we were time constrained we chose just to do the short hike out to a waterfall and good view of the glacier. It was perhaps an hour roundtrip. Overall, a beautiful well maintained park.
