We were so surprised to find this place. It's busy. We had to wait just a few minutes for a seat. Interesting menu. The food is fresh, unique, and healthy and tastes great. We had the goat cheese stuffed dates and the daily egg special which was something VERY special. Great coffee and service. Nice prices, too. It's definitely worth the stop.

Everyone in our group of 9 liked this. We broused the adjacent bookstore while awaiting a table. Once seated the food service was good and we ate well. enjoyed the Mermaid artwork.

Dinner at the Mermaid cafe was excellent. The location is not on the beaten path, and makes it somewhat a local hangout. It was by far the best dinner I had in Alaska. The appetizer was seared local caught sea scallops with their signature Fois Gras infused ice cream. I then enjoyed a rockfish fillet with local grown carrots and excellent mashed potatoes.
The only negative comment was the price. Dinner for two with appetizers ran $105.00 (18 for each appetizer, and $30 for each entree, but with the remote location and fresh food, it was worth it.

Small cafe with excellent choices. I had the fishwich with yellow eye rockfish, and a cup of potatoe soup. Since seating is limited, and the food excellent, there may be a wait - but well worth it.
