I’ve been wanting to post a review ever since returning from Alaska a year and a half ago --- but maybe it’s better that I’ve waited --- to let you know how unforgettable this particular Alaskan B&B is!
The Juneberry Lodge has the perfect location: it's close to town, the Spit (home to popular Homer restaurants), hiking trails, and even the Kilcher Family homestead.
The Juneberry Lodge invites you to feel at home and supplies all the necessities for a satisfying stay. Our room was very clean & our bed warm and comfy. The room we stayed in is on the ground floor and has access to a bathroom with limited sink space across the hall, which meant we had to carry some of our toiletries over and back, morning and evening. No big problem, really, except that in one carry-over, I lost a gold stud earring, and never found it. So if you’re wanting to pan for gold in Alaska, the Juneberry Lodge might be the place to start!
The “aspects” of the Lodge that deserve the most attention, however, are the hosts. What treasures they are!
Marcia is a gracious advisor who suggested restaurants, hikes, and even particular Spit water taxis. She took the time to make reservations and draw maps, just to make sure we got to where we wanted to go.
And Mannfried is a wonderful cook. Please make sure you stay at the Juneberry Lodge long enough to partake of a particular breakfast of fruit and delicately cooked crêpes, because it is one of the best breakfasts you'll ever taste! (You might see a photo of this particular breakfast as part of the Lodge’s “description”.) Mannfried is more than a master chef, however, and if you’re very lucky, you might even get a chance to experience one of his other skills – as he plays the cello for you.
Have a great stay, and pat sweet Django on the head for me (us!)

Our favorite B&B during this trip (and really any trip we've ever been on). Mannfried, Marcia & Django are great hosts/hostesses. The accommodations are clean, quiet and very scenic. The 5 of us stayed in the loft area which was perfect. There was a bunk area for our teenage girls which was incredibly comfortable and well thought out & an alcove with a queen bed for my husband & I. We had our own bathroom and a sitting area overlooking large windows with spectacular views of the mountains. Our hosts had terrific suggestions for things to do and places to eat. Breakfast in the morning is not to be missed (especially Mannfried's blueberry sourdough pancakes). Expect to return in the near future for a longer stay.
