Description: Long a favorite among locals and visitors alike, the Chart Room Restaurant occupies one of the most spectacular waterfront locations in Alaska. We feature local seafood and individually prepared meals in a full-service, fine dining yet family oriented atmosphere. Enjoy the unmatched beauty of Kachemak Bay from the dining room windows; take in the awe-inspiring array of marine life and waterfowl from our outdoor deck, watch the local fleet as they round the spit and head out to sea. “Where Smiles and the Ocean Greet You at the Door!”

I was stuck eating at this place for a few days because I didn't have a rental car and oh my was it bad. The breakfast - which the management assures me is "up to industry standards" consisted of powdered eggs (or some other preparation similar) stale bread, cold sausage gravy, hard boiled eggs, stale waffles and some cereal. The dining room was often dirty or crowded. I gave up on breakfast and tried lunch. Got a hamburger that was literally cooked on one side but not the other. Got dinner. Grilled halibut that was tough, tasteless and cold. The servers have the attitude of prison work release inmates. One nearly challenged me to a fight because I asked him to split the ticket.

The prices are expensive and the food amongst the worst I've ever had. ANY choice in Homer is better. ANY choice. Spare yourself. Three of us got sick after eating at this place to add insult to injury.

Customer service is very poor and often nonexistent. The service personnel (including the manager) tend to congregate in groups at the bar area, particularly at shift changes, and engage in private conversations. Customers are totally ignored at these times and made to feel like
"intruders". We attempted to place a food order with a server and were told that "another server will be to work soon and you can place your order with her". When that server did arrive she was entirely too busy hugging and socializing with fellow workers to take our order.

We only had lunch here so can't say too much about the food but the views of the bay and mountains are great and the service was very good. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is very comfortable.

The restaurant is within the hotel. The views are incredible and you can watch people fish, the water, the mountains and the boats coming into port. The food was great, the service was good, the price was expensive. They have all the local fresh catch but you pay more than you would expect for it being local fish.
