“Interesting and FREE”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

We were going to skip this, but it was close to our hotel and free (rare in Alaska). The center is well done, definitely watch the videos. We spent about an hour here. The boardwalk to the beach is very pretty, we were there on a sunny day and the views were incredible. Bookstore is small, but has some great selections.

“Very well presented displays.”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

Popped in to pick up brochures on the area and were very impressed by the quality of the exhibits and the depth of information about the area, the history, the wildlife, etc. The videos were short enough to keep your attention but still had sufficient information to make them informative. Staff were very helpful, not just about the center itself, but about the area and what to see, were to go. Definitely worth stopping in for a while if you're in the Homer area.

“Engaging films and exhibits”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

Enjoyed the films and permanent exhibits. Relaxed atmosphere that's not too over-stimulating. Hiked trail down to the beach right out the back door of the building.

“Good place on a wet day”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

A fairly small centre, but well done. Our family spent about a hour inside. The displays were interesting and well done. The shop was well stocked with interesting books and toys.
My son and I were particularly interested in the information about the WWII Aleutians campaign.

“Spectacular displays”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

Was a great opportunity to explain to my 11 year old how the ecosystem works, how the history of the peninsula (trapping, fishing, introduction of non-native species) effects what you can see today.
