We stayed at in Bluffview Lodge in room #30 for 3 nights in July as part of a family vacation to Alaska. I had booked this space based on Trip Advisor reviews....

What did NOT disappoint... The location of this property was practically perfect. In walking distance there are a number of great restaurants, the Islands and Oceans Visitor Center, and the beach....especially the BEACH! We spent hours on the beach with the kids, the dramatic shift in tides left endless hours of exploring in a protected (not windy) environment. It was much colder on the Spit, so we were so happy to be here. The stay would have been great if we would have left after 2 days. The third night is what left us disappointed.

This is a destination property. The third night the property hosted a wedding. What does this mean - music, LOUD music. We came back to our room around 3pm with a sick child and no relief, no quiet, and no where to go.... as our room was right next to the wedding. When we spoke to the front desk, they said there was nothing they could do until quiet hours at 10pm. 10pm came, no change, 10:30 - fireworks - 11:00pm finally some relief. We asked for help more than once after 10pm and kept being told "I'll speak to the owner" who apparently was MIA...sadly... wonder where she was and why she was not there to help resolve this ugly situation? as the staff on duty could not contain the wedding party noise. We are pretty sure we were not the only ones complaining that night.

The reason I am sharing this story is if you are NOT part of a large group and are looking for a quiet stay ASK AHEAD if there is an event scheduled, it could really make a difference in your stay. Apparently, weddings and such events take priority over individual travelers. I was surprised the wedding party did not have a contract that forced them to abide by the quiet hours of 10:00pm set by the management. I certainly am not upset with the wedding party, as weddings are a once in a lifetime event, but I wish management would recognize that so is a trip to Alaska for many of us. Truly a disappointing end to our stay in Homer :(

We stayed in the historic building the beginning of July. It was clean, cozy, and the employees were very nice. There is a cooking/picnic area which we use to grill the Halibut caught that day. The lobby/front desk area had a large refrigerator to store any items. The trolley to the Pit stops right at Driftwood-very handy! The Two Sister's Bakery is withing walking distance and had excellent food.
The only thing I would suggest is having more available ice-especially for the late evening cocktails!

We stayed here one night in the month of June.

Pros: Customer service amazing. View is nice. Pretty clean. Room heated relatively quick making our stay cozy. Only specific teas and coffee are free in lobby. Lobby is a nice place to hang out.

Cons: No shampoo or soap provided in the cabin rooms. The shower head got water all over the floor because the design of the shower is not right. We could not cancel our reservation unless we gave a 7 day notice. If we cancelled, they would have refunded our money if the cabin was then booked. It's fair.

What more could one desire? Located on a bluff overlooking the gulf with mountains across the channel. Three of the top four Travel Advisor restaurants are within easy walking distance, but you need to walk more just to work off the calories! I stayed in the Bluffview lodge in room 32. It is quite pleasant and nicely furnished. These are above average accomodations at a reasonable price.

Booked and was confirmed in room 26 for 3 days 8 months before visit and paid the deposit. When we arrived we were shown a small room at the back of a different lodge. After checking my confirmation the reception said the lodge (with room 26 and its king size bed and view) had been booked by a wedding party and my booking had disappeared. After some discussion we were shown a room with a partial view and a queen size bed which was available for only 2 nights. After further discussion the reception staff located us another establishment with could provide a king size bed and view that was available the following day. So we had one night in the queen room at Driftwood at a reduced price and then left.
Over to rational thinking! Our queen room was quite well appointed and was clean and modern. We really loved the common area for the lodge. It ran along the front of the building with a big kitchen and lounge area. It had great views, was modern and looked very inviting. Would have loved to have assessed the property appropriately but our experience was not good.

Room Tip: Good luck!
