“Best place we'd stayed in in Alaska”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

My wife and I spent three nights in the Eagles nest of the Kenai Peninsula Suites in Homer. To be honest, it was the best place we'd stayed in in Alaska during our amazing trip in this state. Our studio-apartment Alaskan-style (wood-wood-wood and wood) was very accommodating, spacious with spectacular views. Large soft bed, bathroom with all amenities. Free wifi and a complete kitchen with a fine gas grill on our deck. Everything was well optained and very clean. Chris was the only guy on site but did everything to accommodate guests.
Our suite was closest to the highway and due to roadworks we've experienced some noise of passing traffic. Nevertheless; a fantastic place to stay. But pricey in season, but worth it.

We had an excellent time. I wish we could afford to stay longer. This place is built for long stays. We didn't have time to utilize all the amenities. We appreciate the attention to detail put in to every nook of this place. Our kids loved the Hot Chocolate that was provided. Also Oatmeal and popcorn too. The kitchen was fully stocked. We built a fire in your outdoor fire area, thanks for providing everything we needed. We roasted marshmallows with the sticks you had on hand. We sat outside on our private deck and watched the Eagles fly by. I hope we get the chance to stay again before the Military moves us to our next location.

Room Tip: The Wolf's den was awesome but next time we want to stay in the Puffin for the indoor fireplace...

Great location and spectacular views; eagles nesting on beach below. Stayed in Bear Den, but did not have a chance to use the Gas Grill. Only had an overnight. Wished we could have stayed longer. Fully equipped, Microwave, sink, dishes, etc. Stacked with micro wave popcorn, instant oatmeal. The gas grill was better than the one I have at home.

Room Tip: Stay in the underground Bear Den or Wolf Den, if available

We had a wonderful stay just wish it was longer. The sub terrenean units are amazing! Great view, comfortable rooms, easy check in. We had a car and enjoyed the Beluga Lake Lodge for a late night dinner and Fat Olives for an early lunch the next day. Wish we could have stayed longer, fantastic place to stay!!!

Room Tip: ANY room/unit you choose you will not be dissapointed

We only booked our room at KPS for one night but wish that we had done multiple nights. We were in the Wolf Den, one of two subterranean rooms. It was very unique, very comfortable, and very relaxing. The outdoor hot tub was a great place to soak and to soak up the amazing views of the bay and the mountains. The staff is very accommodating and attentive without intruding. Our room was very clean, nicely appointed, and well stocked.

Room Tip: Ask for either the Wolf Den or the Bear Den to get the unique subterranean lodging.

What a wonderful place to stay! We arrived in a March snow storm so the subterranean Bear's Den suite was that much more cozy. The construction of the suite is beautiful and unique adding to the overall appeal and charm. It was the perfect place to stay with great hosts who provided everything we could want in the fully equipped and comfortable suite. It was like staying in your own private cabin away from it all. Just a quick drive to town to enjoy Homer, too. So glad we could stay 2 nights in our very private, romantic retreat there on the bluff. HIGHLY recommend a few nights stay there and definitely worth the drive from Anchorage to the tip of the Kenai Peninsula. Don't miss it!!

Room Tip: We highly recommend either of the subterranean suites for the best privacy and amazing views.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at KPS! We were thrilled to get a complimentary upgrade to the Bear's Den upon arrival and can't say enough awesome things about the owners, the property, and the room! The KPS property and room were immaculately clean and the decor and atmosphere warm and inviting. Our only suggestion for improvement would be a more affordable pet deposit ($75 is really high), especially since it is non-refundable. I do understand the need to protect cleanliness and property, but we never let our dog stay in the room unattended, he was always on a leash, and we picked up after him outside. I believe that most pet owners do their very best to respect property because they appreciate pet-friendly accommodations. I think a refundable pet deposit would be more appropriate after it is determined that the room was left in great condition.

Room Tip: Stay in one of the subterranean units for a stellar bay view!
