After our last stay at this rental, we knew that without-a-doubt we would be coming back. The location is prime—not too far from all the action while still offering peace and quiet after a day’s fishing or exploring the Homer area. The house is well equipped with all the things you need to grill or slow cook the catch of the day or wonderful fresh sea food off the Spit. The view from the rental is now our wallpaper on our phones and computers. The Wi-Fi allowed us to share our adventures with all our family at home.
The owner was also very helpful! She gave us a map of the area and suggestions of where to grocery shop. Thank you Jeanette!
This rental exceeded all others in our travel across the Kenai. This was spotless clean, roomy like lower 48 homes, and absolutely filled with everything one could want in a home. Not missing one item.
The little things make a big difference, 1) Very roomy with large sq ft for Alaska
2) Binoculars for viewing out the fantastic viewing windows that face the glacier 3) Large TV with huge selection of channels 4) USB ports throughout for charging electronics. 5) Full size tub/shower.
If in Homer, this is the place to stay. Thanks Jeanette R for sharing the best rental in Alaska.
My husband and I enjoyed our time at A Glacier Vista.
The house had stunning views. It was very roomy and comfortable. We hated to leave.
The place was beautiful, clean and the views were stunning. Jeannette really did think of everything to provide to guests so they really can enjoy themselves. The only thing is I would have perhaps appreciated a little more privacy. I didn't realize the unit was attached to the owner's home and when I travel I really seek privacy. Nonetheless we enjoyed our time.
Thank you, Jeannette, for accommodating us.
Everything you could possibly need is in this place. The beds were amazing! The hostess made us feel like family, even brought us some homemade pizza. It was so relaxing sitting on the deck looking at that view. For us, this place was perfect! Thank you Jeanette, you were awesome.
Stunning views over the bay and mountains. The accommodation was very well maintained and had pretty much every convenience we could think of. The location is about 10 minutes from the spit, so be aware of that. Personally, I was happy with that. The owner was very helpful, and made us very welcome when we arrived.
The pictures on the web don't do this place justice, it is much more spacious than it appears. Jeannette was a gracious host and we rarely saw her but she was available if we had experienced any issues as she lives upstairs (we never heard any sounds from upstairs). The kitchen is very well equipped with almost everything you would have in your home. The cupboards were well stocked with breakfast foods, coffee, sugar, creamer, oils, spices, soaps, bags, foil, and other essentials. I agree with other reviewers, go to the rental first before going grocery shopping so you don't buy things you don't need. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the rooms were spacious, especially the living room. We saw a pheasant and two sandhill cranes from the living room window as well as beautiful views of the glacier and bay. We rated this rental a 4 because 1) the bedrooms were extremely dark with insufficient lighting, the master bedroom bedside lamps were especially dark making it difficult to read in bed; 2) there was clutter everywhere making it difficult to find a surface to put our personal items (the clutter wasn't unattractive there was just way too much of it); 3 the bedspreads were dingy looking although they were probably clean, we couldn't tell; and 4) the 5+ miles each way is a long way into town with shopping, restaurants, and attractions. Restaurants that we highly recommend are "Two Sisters" in old town and the "Little Mermaid" on the Spit, the food at both places is outstanding.
