In August my husband, 2 children and I got to go ont this AMAZING tour. The day before the tour we weren't sure whether or not we'd be able to go due to the weather. It was foggy and we had to wait for about an hour because another company had gone out and the pilots were waiting for feedback from them to make sure it was safe to fly to Katmai. When we did take off there was barely any visibility during the flight. We landed and found one amazing bear. She got extremely close and we were all in awe. Jared and Derick (the two guide/pilots) did their best to try to find more bears. We even flew to another beach. For some reason the bears just we not around. Derick and Jared were clearly frustrated, but we were not disappointed with the one intimate encounter we had. Upon return in Homer as we were gathering our belongings Jared came to talk to us. He and Derick were not happy with the tour that we had been offered and so Alaska Bear Adventures offered us another trip!!! Incredibly generous! Of course we did have other plans, but we changed those to be able to check this bucketlist item off twice! And the second time round was no dissappointment either! The weather was great so we did get the gorgeous volcano flight. And this time around we got to see 7 bears! Thanks so much for the amazing trips...it is the first thing the kids talk about when they are asked about their Alaska adventure.

Mike and Dee offered an absolutely once of a lifetime experience by taking us to a very remote site in Katmai NP to watch the bears from close distance. Mike escorts the group so that everything remains safe. He knows where to go and how close to come to the grizzlys. When you follow the rules, it's perfectly safe. And the view of those big animals is just gorgeous. We were lucky to see also female bears with cubs ! On top of that you get a beautiful scenery around the desolated beaches, surrounded with snowcapped mountains and glaciers. You can't get more in touch with the real Alaska than here. As an extra you get a scenic filight over volcanoes, glaciers, mountains and coves. Mike and Dee are very friendly and professional people, very well organised, not taking any risks with the plains or the bears and giving you the perfect excursion ! A must do !

Hello Etienne H.

Thank you for your review.

Mike and I work hard throughout the year to prepare for each summer trip. We have been taking people to see bears for 10 years now. Each year gets more fun. Mike loves being with the bears each day and often knows several of the bears in the areas we visit. Yes, we do have advice and rules for people and when followed a safe and enjoyable trip will be had. We enjoy taking people to some of the most remote areas of Alaska, allowing people to experience remote Alaska. This does require some extra safety precautions. Safety is our number one priority. This trip is a wilderness experience, only us and the bears in the vast beauty of remote Alaska.
Looking forward to seeing you again.

My brother and I had the fortunate opportunity to experience an incredible trip w/ KBay Air to visit with a large group of bears in Lake Clark. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. I called ahead and was given permission to carry along my large heavy camera bag which was essential to me.
A member of our group counted 19 bears in our vicinity. Our pilot and guide Mike commented that this was the largest group he had seen so far this season. Almost immediately upon reaching a prime beach viewing point we had a large bear walk along parallel to our direction and eventually strolled within an estimated 10yds. Mike had briefed us of this possibility and what behavior on our part would keep us safe. Close up bear viewing is safe as long as the humans play by the rules. We came in mid August and silver salmon had just begun arriving to the river. The bears provided plenty of action by fishing and consuming their share. We also had a mother nurse her two cubs within 20yds directly in front of us.
Enthusiastically recommend booking with K Bay Air

We took the K Bear Adventure to the Kenai peninsula. This is a very organized family-run business. We checked in the day before, and were briefed on what to wear, what to bring, etc... The following day, we took an amazing flight with Derek, who was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We did a beach landing and immediately saw a very large brown bear not 50 yards away. Wow! We hiked through mud flats and small streams in search of more bears. A young bear saw us from a distance, and actually came to us! Derek had us group up and then crouch as the bear came within about 20 feet of us. So Cool! What a beautiful day. Do this if you make the trip. It's an experience you'll never forget

What a terrific experience all around. We flew 22/8. Firstly the check in the day before was a breeze, we were given great directions and information. The next morning also went very smoothly and we were in the air in no time after a detailed safety briefing. We went with Mike and he was an absolutely terrific pilot. The flight was great and he made sure we got to see the glaciers before landing on the beach. Mikes passion really came through once were we on the beach. He gave simple easy to follow safety instructions for being around the bears and was also a wealth of knowledge on the bears and the area. He made it feel like it was also his first time viewing the bears on the beach with his enthusiasm... We had an amazing time and got some terrific photos and videos. On the flight home he took us into and over a volcano crater which was filled with beautiful glacial water. This is an experience that will stay with me for a very very long time and I am already planning a return trip with my father... A MUST DO... YES IT'S EXPENSIVE, YES IT'S AMAZING, YES IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY, YES IT'S ONCE IN A LIFETIME WILDLIFE VIEWING!!! Thanks a million... Henry and Lauren
