“Clean, quiet, and close to Denali”
Reviewed July 13, 2012 via mobile

Historical hotel that was moved from the national park to this site in 2002. Slightly quirky units built prefab for the Park Service in the 70's, this hotel brings recycling to a new level.
The rooms are basic but clean and have mini fridge and microwave. Just a few minutes away from the park entrance, but removed from the crowds. The most likely crowds here will be moose.
We liked the price, the value, and the good nights sleep we had the two nights we stayed here while at Denali.
Spoiler: if everything has to be in the latest style for you to enjoy yourself, this may not be the hotel for you.

Two adjacent rooms for four nights with two queen beds. Family and couples loved the location for visiting Denali, friendly service, comfortable beds, cleanliness and spaciousness. Hotel recommended two excellent restaurants within a mile.

Free coffee in lobby, free internet access, reasonably priced continental breakfast .items and bottled water to take to Denali National Park.

Moose grazed nearby on marshy tall grass so bring mosquito repellent!

This hotel was much cheaper than the hotels at McKinley Village. Only about 10 minutes north of the park, and closer to cheaper gas, staying out here was definitely worth it. These rooms are out of date, but function properly. The curtains block out the sunlight well enough for sleep.

We spent 2 nights here over the Solstice and had a great experience. The first morning we woke up to a light rain falling and after stepping out of our door we saw a double rainbow to the west. Not 5 minutes later a moose with twins walked by as we were getting ready to go to Denali Park. The room was spacious, the king bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the refrigerator was cold, the blackout curtains worked, the wi-fi was good and the price was right. The staff was knowledgeable, very friendly and accommodating. There isn't a restaurant on-site but they had very good suggestions for dining in the area as well as other things to do. The office is in an old railroad car that is a unique experience in itself. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on future visits to Alaska.

We chose the hotel based on the reviews, the price and the fact that the facility offers king size beds. There were three rooms and we stayed for 5 nights. The room was adequate -- don't expect anything high end (but I didn't really see much around Denali that I would consider "high end" in the lower 48 and most places were over $200 or more a night. This was $130/night. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a small fridge and microwave. And its about 10 miles from Denali so getting to the park if you have a vehicle is pretty easy. Be sure to watch for speed limit changes or you'll end up with a speeding ticket like I did! The best part of the stay was the moose. The very first morning we got up early to get on a bus tour. As we were all assembling, my dad said there were moose out front. I got my camera, walked to the edge of the building and looked around. There was a cow and two calves. After a few minutes, they decided to move along and walked back across the drive and went on the other side of the building and were about 15 feet from me as I stood scared and fascinated (and snapping pictures). Definitely the best part of Denali for me!

Room Tip: The moose went by the rooms in the "A" unit.

Very nice motel, out of the main road, and very good value for the area (~110$). Spacious room. Good WiFi.
Ask for the A row with nice view to mountains and vegetation; better the higher numbers, which are most remote from the entrance road.

We spent three nights at this motel. Had to change rooms up-front because the first room could not receive wireless internet signal. If this is a need for you, be sure to confirm if your room gets the signal. Our room had large king bed, was very comfortable, and reasonably priced. Would recommend. Moose all around, and easy access to Denali park.
