Description: Whether ordering a burger the size of your head, Alderwood smoked ribs that fall off the bone, or a local organic salad the food at the 49th will not disappoint. Our award winning craft beer is brewed on premises and can be enjoyed in the beer garden while playing disc golf, bocce ball, horseshoes, or bags. The 49th's outdoor concert series brings acts such as: The Wailers, Trampled by Turtles, Dark Star Orchestra, Keller Williams, Pato Banton, and Matt Lewis and the Medicine. The "Into the Wild" bus from the movie is in the garden and visitors are welcome to go aboard to see the memorabilia on display. As we are located 8 miles north of the Denali hub, we offer a local shuttle for a worry free visit.

We were headed to Denali from Fairbanks and had read previous reviews of this restaurant. We were happy that we stopped. Food and service were great and sitting around the fire inside the restaurant created a cool atmosphere.

It is hard to imagine that you would find a five-star restaurant in small Alaska town in the middle of the wilderness. But that is exactly what you find in the 49th State Brewing Company. This is a local brewery and restaurant located in a warehouse with a large tent for overflow seating. It is not fancy. They do not serve beef tartare or arugula but the Yak Burger is to die for! It is loud. it is boisterous. It is Alaska! As an added bonus you can have your picture taken by the bus that was used as a prop for the movie "Into the Wild".

Hello,
Thank you for your review and taking the time to let everyone know about your experience at the 49th State Brewing Co. We greatly appreciate your patronage and are glad to hear that you enjoyed the yak burger. We source the yak from a privately owned and operated yak farm in Alaska and serve it proudly.

I was happy to see they got better fries. There used to be these nice rounds but last year they went to standard crappy fries. Yesterday they had great fries, more like they used to be. Big portions, tasty food. Best of all you can sit with your dog in the tent out on the deck. Both of my dogs enjoyes being with us and were quite next to the table. A good selection of beers they brew and others. This place is north of Denali Park and popular late night with employees from around the park. There is a campground right there. Get a space then you can drin and not drive.

Hello,
Thank you for taking a moment to write about your time at the 49th State Brewing Co. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit and that you like to bring your dog too. As you noted, we are a dog friendly place and we're glad that you and others bring your furry friends along for the day. Last year we did several benefits for the Alaskan Dog & Puppy Association that were really fun. Ruby Snacks is a locally owned dog snack company that came out in support. If you live in Alaska, you should look them up on Facebook! They're very popular with our 4-legged guests.
All the best and thank you again for your review and patronage.
Regards,
Ellen

awesome selection of beers. Service is some what slow. Went 2 different times. first time around 8p (they were very busy and next day about 2p very slow) Both times no hurry to take order. Much faster to got to bar and order your self than wait on a staff member.

We ate here our first night in area. Food was good, service good and Beer great! Would go back! Like the décor and felt like we were in The outdoors of Alaska. Would have been fu tto be there when they have live music in evenings and be a part of the fun of the place.

Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear you enjoyed the atmosphere so much. When building the 49th we, like many Alaskans, up-cycled items and did things "our way". You may be interested to know that the fire pit seating area was originally a cement mixer. We turned it sideways, raised it up to bar stool height and added a small table ring around it.
We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip and wish you all the best in your future travels.
