“Quiet, clean, tranquil, and friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for two nights for our visit to Denali National Park. This Motel is in Healy about a 10 minute drive north of the Park entrance. It is a very quaint motel and located in a very quiet and tranquil location. We reserved a single queen bed in room 111. It was a spacious and very clean room. There was a small fridge and microwave and a flat screen TV. There is also free wifi throughout the motel, which works decently. The TV had a good amount of channels including several movie channels. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is also free coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider and tea by the front desk that you can help yourself to any time. Their breakfast service doesn't start until June, but that is ok, we paid $105 a night which was a good deal for what we got and for the quality and comfort of the room. I think the price goes up during high season - but then a continental breakfast is included. Next door to Motel Nord Haven is an excellent breakfast place called Rose's Cafe (if you go ask for the homemade salsa). The tour buses and tour hawkers don't hang out at this hotel so its especially relaxing at this motel, especially after a long day hiking around Denali.

Great little hotel in Healy Alaska, right off the Parks Highway. It’s about 10 miles north of the entrance to Denali Park. It has about 28 rooms in the main building. We have always stayed here in the winter so usually it’s not busy. Summer I guess would be different. The rooms are very, very clean, lots of space, private bath, TV, phone, good bed, free Wi-Fi and a computer to get on the internet. I always have a good sleep. They have some plug ins for your car if needed in the winter. They have a sitting room upstairs with a few couches and chairs which is nice to relax and chat with others you might be with. Service is always very friendly, Pasty is a charm. We will be back again in March, definitely give it a try.

Room Tip: Only two floors, no elevator. All rooms look out to the south.

The hotel is in a great location, very well kept, and the staff were very polite and helpful. A very good value for the area. WiFi was included and a decent speed. There is a nice restaurant a few steps outside the hotel.

We just used Motel Nord Haven as lodging for 30 couples. The rooms were large and well furnished. Located approximately 10 miles from the entrance to Denali National Park made it a good location for touring the park. Only concern is that the front desk was not staffed 24/7 however a contact telephone number is provided.

We stayed here early in the off-season in Sept. 2012. It is a great place about 10 minutes away from the Denali park entrance. That way you can avoid the main touristy places at the entrance (therefore dark enough that you can see the northern lights from the back of the motel), it is reasonably priced and it is also quieter. The rooms were clean and comfortable and one of our room had a small kitchen which was nice to have. The staff was very kind and we felt welcome. Would definitely stay there again.

It was the only hotel open in the area for the winter months that I saw, so the decision to stay here was clear. Its a nice place, mom and pop run. Accommodations were great, rooms huge. Nice shared area with library and couches.

I have two issues, one is fact that early morning, 8am, drills start going off. They had people working downstairs on the hallways with drills and hammers. Seriously, 8am in a hotel? Do guests not sleep? Common sense would have said to wait until everyone is checked out, work midday, or post a notice somewhere in advance. I don't appreciate that.

Second issue, WiFi. Good grief it's terrible. They use two cheap routers, Belkin, the kind you buy for a small house. These routers are not made to handle commercial grade bandwidth. I know, I'm a network engineer. I kept getting dropped connections, dns errors, ip errors. Kept switching between them every 10 minutes to use it. Upgrade that stuff before the summer rush comes please. If anything, buy Linksys E4500 routers. Best capacity for a mom and pop place.

All in all, great place at winter rate, but for the summer prices...they better improve some amenities.

My girlfriend and I stayed just one night while visiting Denali National Park. It was winter in Alaska and few amenities were available in the surrounding area. The hotel staff were all very nice and accommodating, full of honest and correct information. The rooms are just the right size with sufficient amenities and re exceptionally clean. The upstairs "den" is a nice gathering place. Apparently, during the summer season there is a continental breakfast which we missed by doing a dead of winter visit. Highly recommended.
