Lucas picked us up on the Homer Spit, water taxi across the cove to a hike over a hill then blew up some inflatable kayaks where we paddled to a huge glacier. Lucas wask knowledgable and careful. We kayaked around some small icebergs then had a very good lunch just watching the glacier, listening to minor calving, then kayaked back. It was an all day experience. Highly recommended.

This place, for me , was one of the most beautiful places I have visited. It was a privilege to stay here. It was not only the scenery that was beautiful, the staff were also wonderful friendly people. I thank them all for all that was done for us. The dinning table was set as a work of art, each meal and the food delicious and grown in their own garden and harvested for the meal. The cabins were a cosy place to retire to each night and delight in the view as the sunset and rose early next morning.
Our host and hostess were delightful friends and so gracious. L

I thank you alland hope to return.

Stillpoint Lodge holds several retreats during the summer months and I was there teaching a design workshop for quilters. It was three days of heaven, an escape from the craziness of city life. Stillpoint staff are incredible and every single detail is attended to, from the locally produced food to the daily outings offered by experts, to the individual cabins. I stayed in the Hermitage which is a fully contained cottage with an amazing view of Halibut Cove. Although we were in class six hours daily, after hours entertainment included massage, hikes, sea kayaking, tide pooling, and relaxing in the sumptuous main lodge. Art is everywhere and surprises the observant viewer during walks. It's an amazing place to stay.

The staff are mostly volunteers that are working for room and board. Although excellent care is provided in all areas, their only compensation is tips, so please be generous.

This is a place where you can be alone and stare off into space or you can be with a group with whom you can share your life experiences with. You are alternately surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of nature and the cozy comforts of home. There are views that allowed me to stretch my senses as I gazed across expanses of water that lap against mountain fjords, kayaking and hiking to a glacier and then to return to a nourishing, healthy meal, a glass of wine by a fireplace fire and to snuggle into flannel sheets in a quiet, private cabin of my own. I wouldn't know how this experience could be better. It is easily accessible and yet feels like remote Alaska. Shhhh, don't let the secret out. This is a magical place of healing and renewal.

Room tip: All the rooms are excellent. Each cabin is a duplex which makes it nice for a family. The bathroom is shared between each room and is actually a compost toilet which is environmentally friendly, odor free and easy to use.

I spent a perfectly enchanting week at Stillpoint Lodge attending a watercolor workshop. The facilities, staff, food and instruction were all first-rate. The cabins are charming and are perfect for re-charging. The surroundings are stunning enough to awaken even the most dormant muse. Starting each morning with gentle yoga was an added bonus.

Room tip: Guests will need to understand that the rustic, environmentally sustainable and communal feel of Stillpoint involves composting toilets in the cabins and joint showering facilities.

We are pleased to hear that you found serenity at Stillpoint. Our annual watercolor workshop retreats are a nice combination of intensive learning and creativity paired with peaceful time spent in nature. It was a surprise and honor to have work from the retreat on display at the Picture Alaska Gallery in Homer, including your still life painting of flowers from our garden. Thank you!

Nancy Taylor Stonington will be leading our watercolor workshop this 2013 season, on Labor Day Weekend.

We hope to have the pleasure of you as our guest again in the future.

Blessings,
~Beka
