Stayed here for a night on my trip to Haines. As I am in the hospitality business, I understand great accommodations and this is in that category. The views are spectacular and the owner, Sue, is a gem. She runs a wonderful B and B, not to be missed if you are in Haines. I strongly suggest this place to all discerning travellers.

A fantastic location makes this a special place to stay but that also marks it out as not for the faint-hearted, the track there is steep and narrow. Sue and Wiley are wonderful hosts, the only minor downside (and it is only minor) is breakfast. The whole house is beautifully done, it is a fabulous place to relax and marvel at the stunning views.

Room Tip: Both rooms have spectacular views. Do use the hot tub

We chose to stay at the Cliffhanger based on the reviews here and we were glad we did. The place is amazing - the drive up the mountain from Haines was a little unnerving, but well worth it for the spectacular views. The host Sue is just a lovely person - very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Her home is spotlessly clean and has a warmly casual feeling. The room was very nicely appointed with gorgeous linens and all the amenities you would expect from a luxury accommodation. Breakfast was great too. Our stay at the Cliffhanger was definitely a highlight of our trip!

This is one of the small luxury secrets in Alaska with a billion dollar view!
The owner Sue Waterhouse and the dog Wiley will make your stay unforgettable!
Everything is perfect, the style of the house, the rooms with own bathroom, the hot tub outside and great breakfast, don´t miss the french toast!
We will come back as soon as possible, this is one of the experiences in your life you should make on a list of 100 things to do!

Everything about this splurge of a B&B will leave a lifetime memory - from the steep drive up the mountain - don't worry Sue will help you find your way - to the wall of windows looking out at the ideal world of snowcapped mountains kissing a gorgeous sea, to the tasty and generous breakfast, to Sue's wonderfully sweet and quirky personality -this place is why you come to Alaska. The bed and linens snuggled you in warmth, the private bath in the king suite had heated tile floors and luxurious towels.

Room Tip: The B&B has only 2 rooms and only the king is en suite. I definitely recommend it. To go to slee...

Whether passing through Haines, or seeking a relaxing getaway, the Cliffhanger will not disappoint. This unique property boasts a commanding view of southeast Alaska that you will enjoy in well-appointed comfort. The custom-built home is nestled high among mountainous terrain, but remains easily accessible by passenger vehicle in summer months. During my winter stay, the proprietress, Sue, offered shuttle service both to and from the destination in her personal vehicle, but advanced planning would have been prudent. Each guest room and the common areas are modern, yet provide a warmth that commercial properties do not have. The master suite includes a custom shower that runs amply hot. An outdoor hot tub on the wrap-around deck is also available for your enjoyment, though I did not soak during my stay. You will be prepared a fine breakfast from scratch; mine was photo quality French toast and scrambled eggs. Cliffhanger's environment is pleasantly casual and dog friendly. To be sure, its resident four-legged help will warmly greet you. If you are fussy about any of the aforementioned, a chain hotel may better serve your needs. However, as a born-and-raised Alaskan, I believe the Cliffhanger will provide a uniquely 'Alaskan' experience with a few creature comforts.

Room Tip: Both rooms are fantastic, However, the master suite has its private bath accessible from within the...

A great B&B experience--the house is aptly named, perched on a steep mountain side with a remarkable, unprecedented view--from the great room, as well as from a spacious deck with its hot tub. Very nicely appointed, with a gracious, generous, knowledgeable and enthusiastic hostess. A genuinely full breakfast was provided to our wishes. We cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: There are two rooms--one with king size bed and en suite, the other with a queen size bed, accessing...
