The flight over the mountains made my son and his friend's day. Mountain flying service is a great little private airline.

From the moment we took off to the moment we landed my eyes could not believe what they were seeing. The flight was easy, comfortable and stress free and the scenery was spectacular! Paul was knowledgable and funny with it and 1 hour felt like 10 minutes. We saw 4 glaciers from the plane and really was able to see the size and scale of the glaciers and surrounding mountains.

I really enjoyed the flight over the East Arm of Glacier Bay NP. Paul was personable and informative. I love the deHavilland airplane we flew in.

We had been trying to do a flight seeing trip our entire time in Alaska, only to keep getting foiled by the weather. Finally, when we arrived in Skagway, the weather seemed to improve and we thought we’d give it a shot. We checked with our cruise tour director, only to be told “there are no flight seeing tours in Skagway”. Well, maybe not through the cruises. Once we got on land, we found a booth next to the cruise docks and asked. They had one and it fit into our schedule. After paying, they told us to show up at the airstrip at 5:00 and to “ask for Paul.”

Paul is the owner/operator of Mountain Flying Service. He is an incredibly nice guy and he knows his stuff. Definitely a very professional person and he takes great care of his vintage DeHavilland Beaver aircraft. It was incredibly comfortable for our family of 4 plus another couple.

Paul took us out over the Davidson and Meade glaciers and over the town of Haines. The views were just spectacular. He even swooped in close to show us a brown bear and a black bear on a nearby mountain within a half a mile of each other (apparently that is kind of unusual).

Every second seemed like a bit of a miracle. We just soaked all of it in and had a great time chatting with Paul and the other couple on the trip. Paul was full of stories and anecdotes about the area and information about the glaciers we were flying over.

We came off the plane just giddy. This was one of the best experiences we had on our trip. Kudos to Paul and Mountain Flying. They are a little off the radar and they are truly independent. Make the effort to seek them out. It’s worth it.

Paul and Amy were awesome. Amy took care of the paper work, reservations and picking us up. Paul was a great pilot, getting us close to the mountains so we could get some fantastic pictures. Paul was also a great narrator of the mountains and glaciers we flew over. Of all the plane, helicopter and boat rides in Alaska my wife and I took Paul and Amy's Mountain Flying Service was the best and most memorable.
