“The REAL Alaska”

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our one night in mid May at Lake Louise Lodge, and just wished we could have stayed longer. The lodge is authentic, with a breathtaking view of the lake. The owners were charming, nice and real people, The bar is a lively, fun place to mingle with the lake community. The lake was still ice when we were there, and it was amazing to see how people drive snow machines across the lake, as transportation from their homes. While we would have loved to see the lake in the summer, with boats, it was unforgettable as we saw it, and helped us understand Alaska.

It is well worth turning the Glenn Highway for the short detour to get to such an exceptional place.

This place was a pleasure to stay at. The whole family is involved with it's operation. It's nice to see a family that works and enjoy each other. We had room #3 that was upstairs with a great view of the lawn and lake. Rocking chairs on our deck was great to enjoy wine in the evening. It was the best place we stayed while in AK

The decision to stay here was the result of not being able to make any suitable arrangements for the night in Valdez as we traveled from Seward to Fairbanks. This turned out to be fortunate for us as we traveled back through Anchorage and out the Glen Highway toward Glenallen. The beautiful and spectacular scenery of snow covered mountains, glaciers and rivers just never ends. As we turned down the road to Lake Louise, we didn't know what to expect. The land here is very sparsely covered with small spruce, but as we entered the Lake Louise Lodge parking, the view of Lake Louise opened up and made it all worth the effort. The lodge is relatively small and "quaint." Our room was on the second floor with a great view of the lake from our porch rocking chairs. A fine breakfast in included and dinner is offered in the lodge. My wife and I had the halibut and scallops...both were excellent. The lodge is not easy to reach but, if you are in the Glenallen area and looking for a place to spend the night, this is a good choice.

We needed a place to stay for one night after visiting Wrangle-St. Elias Nat'l. Park. Happily, we found the Lake Louise Lodge where we were warmly welcomed into the comfortable property overlooking a beautiful, but still frozen, lake. Our room was very clean and comfortable and looked out over the lake, however, we spent the majority of our time downstairs with the owners and some of their friends who were celebrating a birthday, watching caribou cross the icy lake, using the property's wifi, identifying birds, and in conversation with all who were there. It was a pleasant stay and we would return if ever in the area again.

I can't believe I haven't been here before this! Stayed overnight with my family. This is an authentic Alaskan lodge. Prices are reasonable considering the relatively remote location. Room was clean and comfortable. Shower was adequate. The stairs up to rooms 5 and 6 are steep, so be aware if you have a disability. The lodge itself is quaint, with lots of antiques. Check out the old chainsaws hanging from the beams. Workers were pleasant. Excellent bar and restaurant with no smoking. Overall a great experience, and we'll be back!

Room Tip: Rooms 5 and 7 have steep stairs.

5 italian guys in august. We stayed here only for 1 night (unfortunately) but was enough to live a dream. This lodge is incredible, crazy place to stay. We were in the room with lake view and it was been amazing. We had only a problem with the kitchen because they don't know "gluten free " term and also if we order plates with no toast on the top, they put them inside. However this place was been a kind of magic.

We stayed only one night but was well worth the drive off the main highway. It's a beautiful spot on the lake and was a great thrill to watch a mother moose and her calf swimming across it in the evening! We also thought the restaurant was a bit pricey but this was our first night in Alaska and we soon learned the their prices compare to everywhere else we stayed (and we were there for 2 weeks so had many restaurant meals). Had a beautiful room with a deck overlooking the lake. And no, there wasn't a TV in the room but we didn't miss it with the view! If you need to catch up on the news or a ball game, there is a TV in the lounge downstairs or in the bar/restaurant. Was very clean, comfortable and memorable!

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the lake if available
