The RV park is off the road down a gravel road, but it is well worth the short drive. The camp sites are nice, clean, and right on the creek. We only stayed one night, but will certainly go back for a longer visit. We also found the little restaurant right near the RV park to have excellent food and great service.
I would recommend this off the beaten path RV part to anyone wanting a nice quiet, friendly, clean place to camp.

This is a hidden gem of a campground. I think all the campsites are right along the Tolsona creek and the views are wonderful. You hear the creek gurgling and its very peaceful. The campground was not very crowded when we were there (mid-August) so it was almost like having the place to ourselves. The laundry is very efficient and coin operated and the showers are also coin operated, but were the most inexpensive we found along our trip (other than free ones, of course). The owner and operator is very pleasant and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay there. Although the facilities are not new, they are very well-kept and clean. It was amazing to find that, as secluded as this place seems to be, the Wi-Fi is excellent!

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at TWC. There is a nice creek that runs along most or all campsites. The Wi-Fi did not work so great and the campground's owner seemed a little crabby. There was a nice little museum in the office. The laundry was nice. I would stay there again because I liked the creekside camping spaces.

My family and I have been coming to Tolsona Wilderness Campground for more than 10 years. This is our favorite campground in the entire state. Electricity, water, wi-fi, the creek runs by every site, the owners are friendly. And it's far enough off the highway that you feel completely isolated, but have all the comforts you could ask for. 25 cents for a shower? Unreal. The creek has grayling that are fun to catch, and you can float the creek if you want. There is an unimproved trail to a mud volcano that's interesting. All in all, a great bang for your camping buck!

Room Tip: No rooms, but any site is a winner.

The Tolsona Wilderness campground is a unique place to stay and worth a visit. The campground facilities are centrally located and are very, very clean. With both tent sites and sites with hook-ups, this campground offers something for every traveler. Tolsona Creek offers fishing for Arctic Grayling and Rainbow Trout and there is quite a bit to explore for the adventurous hiker. Some RV sites are close together however, there is a feeling of privacy. Shortcomings of this facility are few such as picnic tables in disrepair. The campground would benefit greatly from the placement of "port-a-potties" at the farthest sites. If you plan on camping in a tent site, you should be aware that the bathroom facilities can be as much as 5-10 minute walk. Do not use the old wooden outhouses!

Room Tip: All sites are located on Tolsona Creek, making them all good choices.

Tolsona Wilderness Campground is what one would expect an Alaskan campground to be, trees, river, wildlife abound and fishing. The sites are very well spaced out as the river winds through the property. The bathrooms are squeaky clean and the showers are long and hot for only 25 cents. They offer laundry facilities, WiFi and a quiet place for road warriors to relax and regroup. There is hike up to the Mud Volcanoes (rubber boots and bug spray recommended!) marked by cds nailed to the trees. Its a quick hike, maybe 2 hours round trip but the views are impressive and well worth the effort. Traveling with two sons and a husband, I enjoyed the peaceful surroundings while they enjoyed the fishing. A great place to camp.

We stayed here in May. This campground is fantastically beautiful. Even when there was an incredible flooding scare. The spots are spacious, perfectly situated upon the "creek" which was more like a raging river due to the snow melt! But it didn't affect our stay...it actually made it more exciting! They have wi-fi, showers, dump and water, laundry. The showers and laundry are coin-op, but you can use the shower in the RV if you are worried about spending a couple dollars as they have direct water hook ups at each site. Sites with power are 30a, but they do have a few 50a if needed. Wonderful place. We will return some day!

Room Tip: From what we could see and where we were, spots 3 - 10 were the best view. But.. I say that not bein...
