This hotel rocks! It;'s big in a resort kind of way but has the real ski lodge feel. Rooms are very comfortable. The spa was excellent! My boyfriend and I did a back country CAT skiing day….AMAZING!!!! if you are into back country, this is a must!
The sushi restaurant was really good but we also went into town a few nights and found some awesome spots to eat as well. The breakfast at the hotel opened up super early and was delicious!!

Girdwood valley is tucked among beautiful mountains alongside an ocean inlet. So, you're staying at Alyeska for the gorgeous location. I've said many times to family, friends, and TripAdvisees that Alaska has uneven service. Alyeska, being in Alaska, is no different. Girdwood has plenty of amazing scenery, shockingly good food, friendly (if a bit rough) people, and a mountain tram. Girdwood does not, however, have great service. I'm happy with Alaskan service, but my expectations are realistic. This is not the state to visit in order to be pampered...unless...you are flying-in to a private fishing/hunting cabin. In other words, if you--and everyone else--can drive there, then the service will be uneven.
After snowboarding, eating a terrific meal at the Seven Glaciers restaurant, and drinking a lot of its terrific wine cellar, my wife and I enjoyed an impromptu stay at the hotel. It was clean, attractive, and full of good food. The staff are friendly and, like most ski resort areas, comprised of folks who would rather be skiing/boarding. So, while friendly, service delivery may be spotty, e.g., the front desk person was terrific, but the waitstaff were semi-coherent.
Did I mention that the views in every direction are beautiful? Because they are.

If you are looking for the best option in the area when skiing at Alyeska, then Hotel Alyeska is your answer!
Premier location, right at the foot of the mountain next to the gondola, friendly and accommodating staff, multiple on premises delicious restaurant (Seven Glaciers, Sakura & Sushi, Aurora Bar & Grill, etc.), knowledgeable concierge (Rachel was a huge help) for booking all types of activities (heliskiing, dogsledding, snowmobiling, wildlife tours, etc.), and continuous shuttle service to local bars and restaurants (Sitzmark, Humpy's Alehouse, Double Musky, Jake Sprat, etc.) as well. The concierge will add you to a call list, if asked, if there is an aurora borealis sighting so you don't miss it. The rooms are a good size, with plenty of space and the beds are super comfortable!

This is a great resort! Our room was awesome with a great view of the mountain. The staff was exceptional and unlike some reviews, I thought the front desk staff was overly nice and helpful. We also thought the town and people of Girdwood were very nice.

Room Tip: We had room 742, it was a deluxe double. The room and view were perfect!

After the ALASKA CRUISE AND LAND TOUR, HOTEL ALYESKA AT GIRWOOD was located at the foot of the mountain slope, where the tram car is located and free for hotel guest. The GARDEN around the HOTEL especially the granite benches around the fireplace was a very cosy place for friends to chat over coffee.. The HOTEL LOBBY was huge, rooms were clean spacious, STAFF very helpful The swimming pool was heated and big and spacious, the sauna was also very clean
Since we were there at peak summer, the hotel was full ,we could not get a breakfast table twice, which was disappointing but would . DEFINITELY VISIT ALYESKA HOTEL AGAIN

I stay at the resort a few times a year. I am currently here for Girdwood 20/20 and I am ready to go home. The restaurants are good and the scenery is awesome. The rooms are nice and clean but there is no sound proofing whatsoever. I can here every bump and every door slam around me. In some rooms I've been in you can hear everyone's toilet flush. The worst part is the pool/ hot tub. The room echoes and it is full of kids screaming. Fair enough it is a family destination but when you're in the hot tub and it is full of kids swimming, that's not ok. Why not put a separate adults only hot tub even if it's in the locker room. I'm here to relax and I'd rather be in the bath tub seriously. Mr. Burns, I understand that this a family place but there should be a place for adults too. At least work on the echo in the area.

Most of the staff was very nice but every time I talked to the front desk they just weren't very helpful. I probably would have liked this place better if I was a skier. Special mention to the engineer aaron who helped us when we complained it was too hot in our room. He wAs awesome. Overall I feel they should have more to do for people who don't ski, maybe just some sledding or something and I feel we could have stayed in a better place for how much money we spent.
