“5 Star Alaska... and anywhere else!”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

We stayed at the Hotel Alyeska (Alyeska Resort) as part of a Cruise Tour package and I was extremely pleased with the property. Definitely compared to other Alaska lodging, most travelers will feel like they are in a posh New York hotel. It reminded me of an Austrian or Swiss ski lodge. The location is 30 minutes from Anchorage but it feels much more remote than that, which is nice.

The mountain next to the lodge has over 140 ski runs, many double black diamond. There is a tram from the lodge to the top as well as ski lifts nearby. Not far from the hotel is a small town with several restaurants and some shopping. Inside the hotel are a few shops, one is a outdoorsman's dream with skis, hiking and biking gear another has souvenirs and native Alaskan carvings. There are a couple restaurants inside and a sundry store.

The rooms were great; Quiet and comfortable, nice views, and, best of all, wonderful sleep. Outside each room is a bench w/ locking compartment for ski boots and gear. The staff was great and helped with any questions. There is a free shuttle around town that operates every half hour. We ordered room service (chicken strips w/ fries) and although it came quickly, the strips and fries were WAY over-cooked. It was late so we just ate what we could. That was the only flaw during the entire stay.

When you get there you relaize what you got ! The hotel inside os just amazing, rooms are one of a kind, inside you have a lot of stores and option to stay inside. The swing pool has a warm and hot options, dont miss it. Service and food are very good. Try the salmon and stakes... And the bkfs is plenty of options

If you are a guest, dont forget to ask for the pases to the alyeska ride to the top of the mountain that is one of the best places in the world to sky !

This hotel was fantastic. The decor is top notch. Loved the lobby. Staff was very nice. The rooms were beautiful and the beds were very comfortable (first time on our tour that was the case). The grounds were beautiful also. My only complaint is that we had only one night to spend there!! Definitely recommend (not cheap though).

The hotel is also in a great location between Anchorage and Seward. We stayed there before moving on to our cruise embarking from Seward the next day. All kinds of things to do around there too...Alyska tram, Portage Glacier, Alaska Wilderness Center. We originally booked a hotel in Seward that was very "iffy" in the review department but just a pricy as this hotel. So glad we switched.

We stayed at this resort for a few nights, and were surprised. Didn't know what to expect, but it is a very nice property that is disconnected from the busyness of other resorts in the US. Its best asset is the location. Far away from the sights and sounds of a large town, or large ski resort. The hotel has beautiful grounds for hiking, climbing, biking. The employees were very nice. The rooms seemed a little aged, but that could probably be solved with paint, new linens, etc... The windows did lack black-out drapes which made it difficult to sleep with the bright sun at midnight. The pool and fitness area are all indoors, and very nice, with a beautiful view of the mountain.

We stayed at the Alyeska Resort for 2 nights and had a most enjoyable time. The room we booked was a Junior Suite with 2 Queen beds, which was perfect for my husband and I and our 16 year old daughter. Great room, very comfortable and big enough to have some space. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

Very cozy Hotel. Great place to stay for all the snow activities that one might want to do.. the ariel tram is just behind the hotel, the the Seven Glacier Restaurant is worth a try. The free tram makes it easy to go around Girdwood for those who are not driving. The Tram Case in the hotel is very nice with a starbucks kiosk on the property itself. The rooms were very nice a big. Had a great stay, would definately go there again.

We stayed with our 8 & 9 year old. Very nice. They liked the pool, unique to Alaska, and the grounds to run around. We liked the luxury, unique to Alaska, the convenience of restaurants, laundry in town and room service! We had been in an rv and also were in other hotels, this was probably our favorite, but best when combined with the other experiences. It is by far the most populated big resort and when the busses came in with the cruise people watch out, but still nice and staff was great.

Room Tip: Ask for upper floors for a great view, either parking lot or mountain both excellent 7 or 8th floor.
