We really enjoyed going up in the tram. The view was spectacular, and the tram operators were friendly and helpful. You can walk around at the top and take lots of gorgeous pictures. Go on a clear day and you'll love it!

We took the tram up mid-day as we didn't want to venture too far from Anchorage since we were flying out that evening. It is on the expensive side - $20/person. There are discounted rates for senior, military, and children. I picked up a discount coupon at the airport which gave us $2.50 off each ticket, and it's good on some of the lower priced tickets too! The tram goes every fifteen minutes and it's a quick ride up. The parking lot for the tram is about a five minute walk away, and there is a shuttle stop, but we did not see the shuttle bus. It was a beautiful September day when we went up, and there were a lot of mountain bikers going up on the tram. The tram operators did not let the number of mountain bikers affect the tram schedule.

Clouds moved in, but we were able to see glaciers and beautiful vistas. There is a small museum and giftshop as well as two restaurants - one casual and the other more formal. There are clean restroom facilities available. You can hike some trails after riding the tram, but we weren't up for that. The tram operators were very friendly and chatted with customers on the way up and back down.

We called in here while on a day tour with Alaska Cruise tours from Whittier to Anchorage, following a 7 night cruise from Vancouver. It is a nice cable car journey to top of Mt Alyeska. Fine views from the top. There is a restaurant at the top with panoramic views and a museum with some fine historical photos of the mountain. Clean and heated washrooms. The weather was not the best, but good enough. We saw a few hardy people who walked/ran up the very steep mountain, then got the tram back - respect!! We liked it here.

We planned our trip from Anchorage to Cooper Landing so we would be in Girdwood around lunch. We looked around the hotel, checked out the dining options there, then hopped on the tram. It's a fast 5 minute trip to the top, but views the day we went were great, Turnagain, Arm, glaciers, and wildlife. We spent some time at the top, checked the café menu, which is limited and opted to return to the hotel for lunch, which was very good. The tram ride is a bit pricey at $20, though I got a $3 senior discount for ages 60-69 and 70 and above is half price. The price of the ticket does allow unlimited rides for the day and it's free if you stay at the hotel. It's a great stop on the Seward highway if the weather is cooperative.

For my birthday some friends and I visited Girdwood and rode the tram up the mountain. The cost was a bit pricey but the views were outstanding. We picked a good day as the rain had abated and we could see across the valley to some glaciers, Turnagin Arm inlet (?), and down the hillside to watch a lot of racers running up the hiking trails for a charity race. It was a great view but the biting flies drove us back in to tour the gift shop and then down the hillside. If we had our bug dope, we might have considered trying a few of the hiking trails. We didn't try the food places as we had planned on eating in Girdwood. Also I am not sure that it is wheelchair accessible due to the stairs after you get off the tram. It was a great way to enjoy the sights of the mountain.
