“Alyeska is a great overnight getaway from Anchorage”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

I went down this winter to watch the children race, and had a wonderful change of pace, staying at the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was helpful. I loved the way the mountain is lit at night, and slept with my drapes open to enjoy the view. Girdwood was prettier than I've ever seen it, and quiet, with the deep snow muffling the hustle and bustle of the resort.

“Aerial Tram Ride”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2012

A short tram ride to the top. A pretty nice view once you get there. We went almost as soon as it opened, and it wasn’t more than a half hour before the area began to get pretty crowded.

“If you love to sky and a snow scenario this is the right place.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2012

Alyeska is a four star hotel very clean and organized, the surroundings are amazing for a walk. They have a great restaurant and the ambiance is very peaceful. The view from the tramway is breath taking....for those who loves nature combined with sky station....this is the place. Calm and relaxing...up scale hotel, very romantic getaway....I will recommend for sure and also return as many times as possible! LOVE IT!

“Summer hiking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2012

Alyeska offers a free tram ride down from the top of the mountain for anyone who hikes to the top. The tram ride and the view from the top are great. However, the usual "North Face Trail" was closed due to snow yet on July 2, 2012 and we were told to "take any of the other trails to the top". We found it difficult to navigate our way up the many slopes in order to find the tram at the top and took 2 hours to do this hike thru some wet and rocky terrain.

“Beautiful in summer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2012

In late JUNE 2012 there was still too much snow to hike up the mountain. But the lower hiking trail was lovely, although the hand tram was not working. Locals cross by walking on the lower rope and holding the upper rope -- pretty scary. Mosquitoes were thick, DEET and headnet a must. The 8th floor of the hotel has a nice view but not worth the upcharge. Rooms below the 5th floor have limited views. 7 Glaciers restaurant is a must. Outstanding food and service. Make rez ASAP.
