We found Paul and Michelle and their staff to be outstanding hosts. Our unit was nice and clean with everything we needed. Happy hour each evening was very relaxing. We enjoyed it so much here in August 2012 we are coming back in April 2013.

My husband & I stayed here for 2 nights in November as part of an Air New Zealand package. The beach location was great especially for snorkeling. the snorkeling gear is complimentary. The rooms were basic but clean. We had a pool side unit. if you were going to stay longer I would suggest one of the newer units closer to the beach. The owners, Michelle and Paul were great hosts. They were very accommodating with regards to a late check out (our flight did not leave until 12:00 midnight) and always friendly and helpful. the complimentary breakfast was basic but adequate and fresh. I would highly recommend Castaway.

Me and my friend where lucky to be staying at Castaway resort at Raratonga at the Cook Islands from the 20 til 25 of november 2012.
The place is friendly, the rooms are clean and the view spectaculare ! We enjoyed or stay very much. The friendly and serviceminded couple that runs the place, Michelle and Paul helped out with every need we had. Allways with a smile and helpfull.
The restaurant at the resort served a very good dinner every evening, and the meny had new specials every night and a good selection of drinks.
The view from the room are just spectacular with the seaview and the nice palms. Everything looked great, the garden, the restaurant and the whole location.
The room we stayed in was great with a very nice bathroom. The aircondition and all other electric aplianses worked very good and where new and of good quality.
Only one minor thing to comment was that there was only one TV channel, and the quality was poor. But we are not on a vacation too watch TV.
The Castaway Resort is not satisfied yet and are about to remodel and upgrade the place from january 2013. So a very good place too stay at Raratonga is about to be even better.
If we ever get back to Raratonga we will stay at Castaway Resort. If you look for a high class luxery place look somewhere else, but if you would like a cosy family hotel with true interest in their guests, Castaway resort is the place!!!!.

A big hug and thanks to Michelle and Paul for making our stay superb.!!

Highly recommeded

Sincerly Kjetil and Hallgeir Norway

Room Tip: Any room will be good and make sure to watch the sunset at the beach in the evening :-)

I totally enjoyed my stay in a clean, comfortable , well appointed resort.

Michelle and Paul went out of thier way to make me feel right at home , but without being "in your face".

Can't wait to come back - if only to see if Paul has perfected his bar skills !!

We stayed at Castaways for 2 nights as part of a package trip to New Zealand. The owners were wonderfully accommodating, food was good, location was great, rooms were comfortable and the grounds were nice.
Breakfast buffet was handy, dinners were fine, viewing deck was great for seeing whales pass by. Bus passes by on the road out front. Would definitely stay there again, if we make it back to the Cooks.

Myself and my partner only had dinner here, we did not stay at the resort.

We visited the restaurant on the themed mexican night, while the service was good the food was a let down.

We ordered a starter of bread and dips which consisted of 4 pieces of toast and two dips, one which im guessing was supposed to be pesto, as a lover of pesto i couldnt eat this, the second 'dip' was cream cheese, which in my opinion i would consider this as more of a spread. The starter was a dissapointment and very unimaginative.

For the main i ordered the nachos, again i was dissapointed as i only had 6 corn chips and the rest was meat. I had to ask for more corn chips, but the owner wad happy to oblige.

Although the themed menu nights are a great idea i feel the dishes could be more imaginative.

The highlight though was the service. The new manager/owner was a delight and was very genuine and even kind enough to give me and my partner a tour of the resort and the changes going on.

I would be happy to visit again based on the warmth of the manager as i know he would make us feel welcome. He has not been there overly long so fingers crossed he will make some adjustments to the quality of the food.

A special thanks for the warmth we recieved.

Castaway Resort is an amazing place. The new owners Paul and Michelle have taken over the business and they are making changes everywhere to improve the stay of guests! Even without these changes.. The rooms are so cosy and you feel so relaxed. Buffet breakfast every morning which is very nice. AMAZING food! Nice price and sooo yummy. Different food each night like seafood, mexican, pasta night, bbq and more. Live music on Wed nights. COCKTAIL hour!!! Outdoor pool (I swam everyday! Was sooooo nice! We were in a Beachfront villa walk out your door and oh HEY theres the beach! And the viewing deck is amazing! We got to see Whales just past the reef 3 nights that we were there! If you are wanting a relaxing holiday away from kids and all that crazy busyness of the huge resorts then this is where you should stay. Loved it. Awesome!

Room Tip: Choose a Beachfront Villa. Its amazing!
