“Nice little wood burning stove but otherwise meh”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

LIked the little wood burning stove in the bungalow but otherwise this place could use a big facelift. Had to call to get sofa bed linens delivered; had to call again to get toilet fixed (chain broke or fell off the flush lever, not sure which). Overall it's pretty much just a motel 6 kind of place.

Restaurant food was good (although we agree with others that it's overpriced; we had just driven 7 hours, though, so weren't up for venturing out). Had a much MUCH better dinner at Sackett's the next night, at less than half the price. Wi-fi in the main building works well which was a plus but too bad it wasn't in the room. Two laundry facilities on the grounds and the ability to park very close to bungalow's door were plusses. Most of the staff was very helpful and engaging.

We only stayed one night at the lodge. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. All the employees were friendly and helpful. The fireplace in our room didn't work as advertised but no big deal. The food in the restaurant was too pricey for us which forced us into town where it was cheaper and better. And the locals were quite entertaining.

The lodge has a short hiking trail on the property which was somewhat short but offered nice views of the Kenai River. Forget using the hot tub unless you're looking for an experience as a sardine in a sauna. It always seemed overcrowded.

My biggest complaint, and only one really, is cost. Prepare to open your wallet wide. Then again, everything in Alaska is expensive.

We booked 3 nights here after a cruise on the Diamond Princess. Rooms are awful, although I think it could have been a better experince if we were in a different building. There are 15 buildings on the campus. We were in building 11. The unit was a nice size, but very beat up with the construction and furnishing quality of a lower end best western. We had a standard door with a screen instead of the sliding door that every other building had. We had plastic furniture instead of the wood patio furniture that some (but not all) of the other buildings had. Our view was of the road and the building beneath us. None of the buildings has great views, but some at least make you think you might be in the wilderness. We were paying rack rates ( about $250/nt for 3 nights) and they put us in the worst building they have. It's passable for one night, but not for more. If you stay multiple nights, the best units appear to be in buildings 1 - 8. Buildings 9 and 12 look ok. Avoid buildings 11, 14 and 15 at all costs. Also, room was not particularly clean - hair and dust in the bathroom. Never doing business with Princess again for cruise or lodging after this.

Room Tip: Buildings 1-8 look the best.

We happened upon this Lodge while exploring the Kenai Peninsula, it was a real treat to find this lodge! We were given a surprisingly reasonable rate and a fantastic room for our family. The room was large - 2 queen beds and also a pull out sofa bed (twin) with a good mattress. The wood burning stove and covered porch were nice touches. The grounds and views are amazing. We had dinner in the bar, it was cozy and rustic. The food was very good and more reasonably priced than the lunch we had in Seward at a cafe. The outside deck had great views of the river and is a fantastic place to enjoy a beverage. The lodge is centrally located on the peninsula, close to great hiking trails and river activities, and about a 45 minute drive to Seward. Our only complaint is that we didn't see any wildlife in the area!

What a fantastic place to stay. Loved the word burning stoves in each room and our room was huge. The property was really pretty and we enjoyed strolling around the trails in the area. We only got to stay one night but we hope to return again real soon.

This was our first stop on the land touur portion of our Princess cruisetour and our favorite hotel. Spacious rooms with great decks, although we could hear every sound from the adjoining room. Lodge, gift shop and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. Delicious reindeer chili!

After working our way down from Fairbanks for a cruise, we were pleasantly surprised at the Kenai Princess lodge. It is surrounded by nature, there were a number of bear passing thru while we were there. It is a roomy modern lodge, with nice large rooms.
